Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which UEs in sidelink communications may perform UE-to-UE positioning and ranging estimations through exchange of one or more predefined waveforms. A first UE may transmit a first predefined waveform, which may be received at a second UE. The second UE may, responsive to detection of the first predefined waveform, transmit a second predefined waveform, which may be received at the first UE. The first UE may use a closed-loop machine-learning algorithm to estimate a position of the first UE, ranging information between the first UE and the second UE, or combinations thereof. The position/ranging information may be provided to a base station, which may fuse multiple estimates and transmit updated positioning/ranging information to the first UE, the second UE, or both.
Abstract:
Disclosed are techniques for wireless positioning. In an aspect, a first user equipment (UE) transmits a request to perform a UE-UE positioning procedure with a second UE, receives a radio resource configuration for the UE-UE positioning procedure, the radio resource configuration indicating first radio resources for transmitting positioning signals to the second UE and second radio resources for receiving positioning signals from the second UE, transmits one or more first positioning signals to the second UE on the first radio resources, receives one or more second positioning signals from the second UE on the second radio resources, and enables a distance between the first UE and the second UE to be estimated based on at least transmission times of the one or more first positioning signals and times of arrival (ToAs) of the one or more second positioning signals.
Abstract:
A method is provided for compensating for clock drift error and movement error of an access terminal. A forward link error is obtained that is attributable to at least a first error (e.g., clock drift error) component and a second error (e.g., movement error) component. The first error component and the second error component are estimated based on the obtained forward link error. A receive clock of the access terminal is compensated based on a combination of the first error component and the second error component. A transmit clock of the access terminal is compensated based on a difference between the first error component and the second error component. The forward link error may include a timing synchronization error between the access terminal and an access point as well as a frequency synchronization error between a forward link frequency and a baseband reference frequency.
