Abstract: Appts. for repositioning a signal pickup stylus from one convolution to another of a signal encoded spiral groove on the disc record is composed of a signal pickup stylus for recovering the recorded information, a pivoted support arm(21)for positioning the stylus(17) in the groove of the disc record during rotation and control means. The stylus which cooperates with an information storing spiral groove on a video disc record is caused to selectively skip groove convolutions of the disc record to produce special effects including stop, fast-forward andreverse motion of the displayed image.
