    Abstract: An exchanger conduit permits temperature and/or humidity conditioning of a gas for a patient respiratory interface. In an example embodiment, a conduit has a first channel and a second channel where the first channel is configured to conduct an inspiratory gas and the second channel configured to conduct an expiratory gas. An exchanger is positioned along the first channel and the second channel to separate the first channel and the second channel. The exchanger is configured to transfer a component (e.g., temperature or humidity) of the gas of the second channel to the gas of the first channel. In some embodiments, an optional flow resistor may be implemented to permit venting at pressures above atmospheric pressure so as to allow pressure stenting of a patient respiratory system without a substantial direct flow from a flow generator of respiratory treatment apparatus to the patient during patient expiration. coc 0"M

    Abstract: A conduit (2609) for breathable gas that delivers respiratory treatment to a patient interface or mask. The conduit comprises a venting portion (2611). The venting portion comprises a first (CA) and a second (CB) channel, a flexible channel divider (2607) and an aperture. The first channel is configured to conduct inspiratory gas (IF), and the second channel is configured to conduct expiratory gas (not shown). The flexible channel divider dynamically creates the first and second channel in response to inspiratory and expiratory conditions. The flexible channel also acts to block the venting aperture during inspiratory conditions and to open the aperture to allow expiratory gas to exit through the aperture. The flexible divider can further comprise an exchanger which allows temperature or humidity to be transferred from the expiratory gas to the inspiratory gas.

    Abstract: A respiratory treatment exchange having an exhalation conduit (104) with a valve (318) which controls the flow of gas between the interior of the conduit and the atmosphere. The valve can comprise a flexible or pivotal cover (2185) which blocks an aperture in the exhalation conduit. The cover is biased or tensioned towards a closed position such that a differential pressure is required to actuate the valve and allow air to pass through the aperture. The vent may be configured to require a positive pressure in the exhalation conduit before it actuates and vents the air to the atmosphere (HPVE side). The valve may further have a configuration (LPVE side) which allows air to flow from the atmosphere into the exhalation conduit when a sufficient negative pressure is formed in the exhalation conduit.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a conduit comprising a first channel (102) and a second channel (104) where the first channel is configured to conduct an inspiratory gas and the second channel is configured to conduct an expiratory gas. An exchanger is positioned along the first channel and the second channel to separate the first channel and the second channel. The exchanger is configured to transfer a component (e.g. temperature or humidity) of the gas of the second channel to the gas of the first channel. The exchanger can have a folded surface having multiple folds (1070) and can be held between two halves (101-T, 101-B) of a respiratory treatment conduit. The crease(s) (1072) of the fold(s) can run parallel to the flow path of the conduit. The multiple folds act to increase the surface area of the exchanger with respect to the cross-sectional area of the conduit.
