Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powder comprising boron nitride particles having an aspect ratio of from about 50 to about 300; and to provide a method of making a delaminated hexagonal boron nitride powder. SOLUTION: The method involves providing a boron nitride powder and milling the boron nitride powder in a mixture including a milling medium and a milling liquid under conditions effective to produce the delaminated boron nitride powder. An extrusion method of a molten polymer is also provided. The method comprises blending a powder containing hexagonal boron nitride particles having an aspect ratio of from about 50 to about 300 with a polymer to form a blend, and obtaining an extruded product by extruding the blend through an extruder under conditions effective to disperse the boron nitride particles in the whole polymer.
