    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a highly efficient operation and zero fluid stay and to produce a high leakage prevention mechanism. SOLUTION: A flange 128 for sectioning and forming an outer diameter termination edge of a poppet valve element 32 has a tongue part 132 projecting in the axial direction from the flange 128. A diaphragm 34 extends in the radial direction around the head part of the poppet valve element 32 and interposes between the heat part of the poppet valve element 32 and the flange 128 so that the head part of the poppet valve element 32 with regard to the flange 128 may be operated. The head part of the poppet valve element 32, the flange 128 and the diaphragm 34 are an integrally structural member. This assembly is provided with a circular valve seat 36 located adjacently and oppositely to the poppet valve element 32. The valve seat 36 has a poppet valve element contact surface 40 inclined in an upper direction toward a radial inward direction in a radiation axis line direction of the valve seat 36 in the range of about 2 to 30 degrees. The surface of the poppet valve element 32 and the surface of the valve seat 36 act each other and perform seating and non-seating operations of the assembly. On a contact surface of the poppet valve element 32 and the valve seat 36, unnecessaries are swept.

    Abstract: Anti-pumping dispense valves, constructed according to principles of this invention, comprise a fluid transport housing having a fluid inlet passage extending into the housing, a fluid outlet passage extending out of the housing, and a fluid transport chamber disposed within the housing. The fluid transport chamber includes an valve seat. An actuator housing is attached to the fluid transport housing and includes an actuator chamber that is in contact with the fluid transport chambers. A diaphragm/poppet assembly is disposed within the fluid transport chamber and comprises a poppet positioned downstream of the seat for placement against the seat to stop fluid flow through the first fluid transport chamber. An actuator is disposed within the actuator chamber for moving the diaphragm/poppet assembly. Dispense valves of this invention operate to provide a slight vacuum within the fluid flow passageway in the valve to retain or pull back into the valve any nondispensed liquid, thereby eliminating and/or greatly reducing the possibility product contamination via unwanted excess liquid dispensement or dried residual liquid dispensement.

    Abstract: A poppet and seat assembly (10) comprises a poppet (34) having a circular imperforate head portion at one poppet end and has an opposite end adapted for connection with a poppet actuator (32). The poppet head (34) includes a valve seat interface surface (38) along an outside head surface that tapers upwardly, moving radially outwardly from the head, at an angle in the range of from 8 to 25 degrees. The poppet includes a flange (128) that extends radially around the head and that defines a terminal outside diameter edge of the poppet. The flange includes a tongue (132) that projects axially away from the flange. A diaphragm extends radially around the poppet head (34) and is interposed between the poppet head (34) and the flange (128) to enable poppet head movement relative to the flange. The poppet head (34), flange (128) and diaphragm are all part of a one-piece construction. The assembly also comprises a circular poppet seat (36) that is positioned adjacent to and opposite from the poppet (34). The seat (36) has a poppet interface surface (40) that tapers upwardly moving radially inwardly towards a radial axis of the seat in the range of from about 2 to 30 degrees. Together, the interacting poppet (38) and seat surfaces (40) are specifically designed to enable high efficiency actuation of the poppet (34) vis-a-vis the seat (36) to provided seating and unseating operation of the assembly. Additionally, the poppet (38) and seat interface surfaces (40) are cleanly swept and devoid of any surface features that could cause unwanted fluid hold up.

    Abstract: An anti-pumping dispensing valve comprises a fluid transport housing (206) having a fluid inlet passage (222) an intermediate fluid passage (232) a fluid outlet passage (214) and first and second fluid transport chambers (224, 234).     Abstract: An encapsulated magnet assembly comprises a non-metallic housing and a magnet disposed within a housing magnet chamber. A housing end cap is fuse bonded to the housing to encapsulate the magnet therein and form an air and fluid-tight seal with the housing. An insulating spacer is interposed between an exposed surface of the magnet and the end cap before assembly and fuse bonding, and is formed from a thermally insulating material to prevent the transmission of thermal energy to the magnet during the fuse bonding process. The insulating spacer serves to protect the magnet from unwanted thermally induced magnetic field losses. The housing also includes one or more projections that extend into the magnet chamber and that cooperate with complementary grooves in the magnet to prevent the magnet from rotating within the chamber.

    Abstract: A valve apparatus comprises a valve body, a piston disposed within the valve body, and a rolling diaphragm poppet that is attached the piston to regulates fluid flow through the valve via interaction with a valve seat within the valve body. The valve body has a chamber extending therethrough that includes a valve seat at one chamber end that defines a fluid inlet passage into chamber. The piston disposed within the chamber and is adapted for axial displacement therein by an actuating means. The rolling diaphragm poppet is attached to an end of the piston and is of a one-piece construction. The poppet includes a head that has a circular radial cross section, and that has a frontside surface that is adapted to interface with the valve seat in the chamber to control fluid flow therethrough. The head also has a backside surface that is adapted to accommodate attachment with an end of the piston. The poppet includes a cylindrical sleeve that extends axially away from a peripheral edge of the head and that has a non-bellowed configuration. A flange extends radially from the sleeve to define a peripheral edge of the poppet. The flange including means for providing a leak-tight seal with the valve body. Axial displacement of the poppet head within the chamber, in response to the axial movement of the piston, is provided by a rolling movement of the sleeve in an axial direction between a piston wall surface and a concentric wall surface within the valve body.
