Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide paper machine clothing which has reduced fabric contamination and an improved wipe clean, abrasion resistant surface and can be rapidly produced with a relatively low cost. CONSTITUTION: A sheet of partially fused particles is formed by spreading powder of polyalkenes such as polyethylene and polypropylene, thermoplastic polyurethane, polymer of ethylene/propylene/diene monomer and metallic particles into a layer of a prescribed thickness or into a layer of different size fractions of particles and then heating the layer. Optionally, a sheet formed by spreading fibers having a melting or softening point higher than that of the partially fused particles, a fabric of polyamide bonding fiber or polyethylene/ polypropylene bicomponent fibers or chopped fibers is embedded in the partially fused particles sheet as a reinforcing structure. A fluoropolymer coating or an organically modified ceramic coating is applied on a surface of the sheet and a plurality of grooves are provided on the surface of the sheet working at the machine side of the clothing to form the paper machine clothing.
