    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cloth for a paper machine which is lightweight, flexible and stable under high-temp. and hydrolytic conditions by using a compsn. containing at least one kind of polybenzoxazole and polybenzothiazole polymer and its random or block copolymers as the structural component. SOLUTION: The polybenzoxazole and polybenzothiazole polymer or its random or block copolymers are expressed by the formulae, wherein Ar and Ar are 6 to 18C condensed or non-condensed aromatic or alicyclic groups, preferably phenylene, tolylene, biphenylene or biphenylene ether, Ar is 1,2,4,5-phenylene group, Z is O or S, and X is up to 12C, especially 2 to 6C straight-chain alkyl group or preferably a bivalent aromatic group same as Ar. The polymers preferably contain one or two or all of these units (i), (ii) and (iii).

    Abstract: In a sem for e.g. papermachine clothing, interdigitating seaming loops (13, 14) embrace deformable yarns (17) inserted between the last cross-machine direction yarns (15a) and the opposed seaming loops (14, 13). Alternatively, an insert may be in the form of a ladder-like member (30) comprising one or more cross-machine direction members (31, 32, 33) and a multiplicity of machine direction members (34) extending beyond the members (31, 32, 33) to locate the seaming loops. Also possible is the use of a strip or tape of foamed or foamable material.
