Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and methods for extending a deterministic network over a wide geographical area. According to one embodiment, an IED may transmit data frames using a deterministic frame-based communication protocol, such as EtherCAT, via a local deterministic fieldbus. A first transceiver may encapsulate the data frames for transmission over a multiplexing synchronized optical network, such as a SONET network. A second transceiver may de-encapsulate the encapsulated data frames and transmit them via a remote deterministic fieldbus, such that communication between the local and remote deterministic fieldbuses is deterministic. Accordingly, an IED may communicate with a high level of determinism and/or in real-time with various components in a power delivery system across a wide geographical area including multiple deterministic fieldbuses.

Abstract: La presente se describen diversos sistemas y métodos que pueden mejorar la transmisión de datos sobre canales de comunicación de ancho de banda bajo en un sistema de suministro de energía eléctrica. Los dispositivos se comunican a través de un canal de comunicación de ancho de banda bajo pueden incrementar varias soluciones, de acuerdo con diversas modalidades que aquí se describen, para reducir los datos transmitidos a través del canal de comunicación de ancho de banda bajo y priorizar la transmisión de información sensible al tiempo y/o más importante con respecto a otros datos. Diversas modalidades que aquí se describen pueden inspeccionar paquetes que se van a transmitir a través de un canal de comunicación de ancho de banda bajo con el fin de identificar datos de alta prioridad. Los datos de alta prioridad puede ser información sensible al tiempo y en consecuencia la transmisión de estos datos se puede priorizar sobre otros datos con el fin de reducir la latencia de transmisión de los datos de prioridad superior.
