Abstract:
The insert (1) has a flat or rounded chamfer (10) for connecting a cutting edge (8) to a clearance side on a lateral side of the insert in a region of a corner. The chamfer makes an angle of 1-15 degrees with the clearance side for enabling application of the chamfer tangentially to a work piece (12) to be machined. The insert is born in two dimensions against the work piece during a cutting machining operation carried out by the insert through the tangential application of chamfer.
Abstract:
An indexable turning insert includes two opposing larges sides formed by a support center part and a plurality of cutting parts projecting outwardly therefrom, each having a cutting edge extending between the sides and being spaced apart around the outer perimeter of the center part for indexing, has four the cutting parts. Each cutting part has a clearance side extending on one of the sides of the insert from the cutting edge of the cutting part towards the center part while making clearance angles in two dimensions with respect to the cutting edge, and the cutting edge of each cutting part makes an angle being below 90° by less than the clearance angles with the other of the sides of the insert.
Abstract:
A negative insert for cutting machining has a top side, a clearance side perpendicular thereto and a cutting edge in a region interconnecting these sides and extending substantially in parallel with these sides. The insert has further a flat or rounded chamfer connecting the cutting edge to the clearance side on at least one lateral side of the insert in the region of a corner thereof. The chamfer makes an angle of 1°-15° with the clearance side for enabling application of the chamfer substantially tangentially to a work piece to be machined for bearing of the insert in two dimensions against the work piece during cutting machining operation carried out by the insert.
