Abstract:
Provided are: a method for producing particles by suspension polymerization, the method having exceptional monomer dispersion stability and also making it possible to simplify a cleaning step; composite particles that can be obtained by this production method; and the use of these composite particles. This method for producing composite particles includes a step for conducting the aqueous suspension polymerization of a monomer mixture containing a polymerizable vinyl monomer in the presence of small polymer particles having a volume-average particle size of 20-500 nm with water-soluble celluloses adsorbed to the surface, and obtaining composite particles that contain these small polymer particles and large polymer particles larger than these small polymer particles.

There are provided a method for producing particles by suspension polymerization which ensures an excellent dispersion stability of the monomer and a simpler washing step, composite particles obtainable by this production method, and use of the composite particles. The method for producing composite particles includes a polymerization step of subjecting a monomer mixture which contains a polymerizable vinyl monomer to aqueous suspension polymerization in a presence of small polymer particles having a volume-average particle size of 20 to 500 nm, with a water-soluble cellulose compound adsorbing on surfaces of the small polymer particles, and thereby obtaining composite particles which contain the small polymer particles and large polymer particles greater than the small polymer particles.
Abstract:
In a method for producing composite particles containing polymer particles and silica particles that adhere to the polymer particles, the composite particles are obtained by subjecting a polymerizable monomer to aqueous suspension polymerization in a presence of silica particles and a cellulose compound adsorbing onto the silica particles. The composite particles contain the polymer particles, the silica particles that adhere to surfaces of the polymer particles, and the water-soluble cellulose compound.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polystyrenic resin composition for foaming capable of inhibiting attenuations of mechanical strengths even if the weight thereof is reduced.SOLUTION: The problem-solving polystyrenic resin composition for foaming includes, as constituent components of a matrix resin, a polyfunctional vinyl aliphatic compound and a component derived from a styrenic monomer, whereas the polyfunctional vinyl aliphatic compound has a molecular weight of 100 or higher and lower than 1000, whereas the matrix resin is obtained by polymerizing a monomer mixture including 300-3000 ppm of the polyfunctional vinyl aliphatic compound within the styrenic monomer, whereas the matrix resin is a resin exhibiting a ratio of the gradient (a) of the linear approximation line of a non-linear region specific to a logarithmically plotted time-elongational viscosity curve ascertained by measuring the monoaxial elongational viscosity thereof under conditions of temperature=160°C and fixed strain rate=0.1/sec with respect to the gradient (a) of the linear approximation line of a linear region specific to the same curve (a/a) greater than 2.0 and 6.0 or less.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for producing monomer composition droplets having high particle diameter uniformity.SOLUTION: Provided is an apparatus for producing monomer composition droplets comprising: a storage tank of an aqueous medium and; a nozzle having a plurality of open holes for discharging monomer composition droplets in the aqueous medium; a storage tank of the monomer composition; and a pump for supplying the monomer composition from the tank thereof to the nozzle. The pump has a constitution to supply the monomer composition to the nozzle intermittently so that an amount per droplet of the droplets discharged from the nozzle becomes 1.5×10to 1.5×10g/droplet.
