Abstract:
A deformable mirror includes a first base plate having a first reference surface, a transparent second base plate having a second reference surface opposed to the first reference surface, a flexible member disposed between the first base plate and the second base plate and having a reflective surface on a surface thereof, the flexible member being adapted to be fitted on the first reference surface or on the second reference surface, and a driver for fitting the flexible member on the first reference surface or on the second reference surface, wherein the flexible member is held between the first base plate and the second base plate, and the light rays to be reflected by the reflective surface are imparted with the first degree of spherical aberration or with the second degree of spherical aberration by fitting the flexible member on the first reference surface or on the second reference surface by the driver.
Abstract:
An optical disk according to the present invention has thereon an uninterrupted preformed groove adjoining a track. The address information of the track and sectors is prerecorded by variations in the preformed groove in a radial direction of the optical disk. An optical disk drive converts a detection signal, that is generated when the spot of a light beam crosses the track, into a binary signal in accordance with the comparison between the detection signal and two different slice levels, whereby a correct track crossing number is obtained. Another optical disk has thereon index marks that are prerecorded by partially varying the width of the preformed groove. Another optical disk drive detects the index mark on a specific track line, whereby formatting data with respect to address information is generated. The optical disks and optical disk drives are thus compatible with writing of the address information by means of soft-formatting.
Abstract:
An ink-jet head includes a base member provided with a plurality of channel grooves separated from each other by channel walls and connecting front and rear ends together, a cover member arranged in contact with the base member and opposed to a surface provided with the plurality of channel grooves of the base member, an electrode arranged as a drive electrode on at least a part of inner surfaces of the channel grooves, and conductive resin arranged at the rear end to fill inner spaces of the channel grooves and electrically connected to the drive electrode. The rear end of the channel groove is shallower than the front end of the channel groove.
Abstract:
An ink jet printer performs a control of a supply of electric power for each heating element based on a temperature dependency of a resistance value by monitoring its resistance value while ink is being discharged. Accordingly, the ink jet printer permits a damage of the heating element and a discharge inferior caused by a difference in characteristics in heating elements, ambient temperature, etc., to be suppressed. Additionally, as the temperature of the heating element is not detected directly, the ink jet printer permits high speed control of the electric value, thereby permitting high speed printing.
Abstract:
A deformable mirror for reflecting a light beam incident on the mirror has a flexible section (2) provided with a reflecting surface (2a). and designed to be flexibly deformable. There is a substrate (6) with a reference surface positioned opposite the flexible section (2). A control device (7,8,12) is provided to allow the flexible member (2) to adhere on the reference surface of the substrate (6), so as to enable the flexible surface (2a) of the section (2) to correspond to the reference surface, and in which the reference surface is laid out so that the light beam is provided with a spherical aberration when the reflecting surface adheres to the reference surface.
Abstract:
The optical recording medium driving apparatus has a first high-pass filter (22) for outputting a low frequency component removed signal by removing a low frequency component from a reproduction signal varying depending on a reflected light beam from the optical recording medium (1). The low frequency component removed signal changes due to transient response just after an access operation starts. Zero voltage is input to a second high-pass filter (28) during a tracking operation while a voltage having a negative polarity which is substantially the same amplitude as the AC component of the low frequency component removed signal is input to the second high-pass filter (28). The first high-pass filter (22) has the same time constant as the second high-pass filter (28). Just after the access operation starts, the negative voltage has the same transient response as the output of the first high-pass filter (22). The output of the first high-pass filter (22) is compared to the output of the second high-pass filter (28) in order to have a binary signal of a binary logic condition. A land is discriminated from a groove according to the binary signal, thereby enabling accurate access to a target track.
Abstract:
The ink jet print head has a number of nozzles (7a) formed in a plate (7) that creates an ink reservoir with a base container (5). The base has locations (3) to which is fixed an actuator strip of piezo electric material that has electrode layers on both sides. The electrodes (9a,9b) are connected via a switch (8) to a voltage supply. When the voltage is applied the bimorph actuator deforms and ink in the top chamber is expelled as jet droplets (100). Each nozzle has an associated actuator.
