Abstract: An active matrix type liquid crystal display panel including a first (10) and a second (10') insulating substrates which face each other is disclosed. Each of the elements includes: part of a corresponding one of the end portions of the first bus lines (11) or part of a corresponding one of the end portions of the second bus lines (12); a corresponding part of the short-circuit line (16); and an insulating thin film (20) formed between the short-circuit line and the corresponding one of the end portions of the first bus lines or the corresponding one of the end portion of the second bus lines.

Abstract: A vertical orientation system liquid crystal display in which degradation in display quality such as roughening, sticking or afterimage due to disturbance in orientation of liquid crystal molecules based on a connection electrodes for interconnecting sub-pixel electrodes can be prevented, and a method for manufacturing such liquid crystal display. In the liquid crystal display, each pixel electrode (2) of a liquid crystal panel is constituted by combining at least two sub-pixel electrodes (2a), and each sub-pixel electrode (2a) is connected through a bridge (3) narrower than the sub-pixel electrode (2a). A vertical orientation system where liquid crystal molecules tilt symmetrically to the central axis of orientation in the direction perpendicular to the surface of each sub-pixel electrode (2a) upon application of a voltage is employed. The bridge (3) is provided at a position asymmetric to the sub-pixel electrode (2a).

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a system to be easily produced at a low cost without the necessity of high pressure-resistance in a detection signal reading circuit and a high sensitivity in a photosensor. SOLUTION: The system is provided with a sense line 22, a CS line 24 on which an output voltage is applied, a TFT 26 which is connected to the sense line 22 at the side of one terminal, connected to the CS line 24 at the side of the other terminal and controlled concerning a conduction state between one terminal and the other terminal by an input signal to a control terminal, the photosensor 29 whose one terminal is connected to the control terminal of the TFT 26 and a held capacity 28 which is connected to the photosensor 29 in parallel and by which a held voltage is supplied to the opposite terminal of the control terminal. The voltage of the CS line 24 is outputted to the sense line 22 via the TFT 26 as the detection signal.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make the defective pixel of a liquid crystal display device inconspicuous and to improve display quality. CONSTITUTION:During a vertical flyback time, a video signal for white display outputted from a video signal correction circuit 40 is given to a video signal inversion circuit 35 through a video signal control circuit 39 and impressed on a defective pixel electrode always kept in a conductive state with a data signal line 24 through a data side driving circuit 34 and the data signal line 24. Thus, driving voltage for the defective pixel electrode is corrected to approximate to the driving voltage for a normal pixel electrode connected to the same data signal line 24.
