Abstract: A photodiode array spectrophotometric detector comprising a light source 2,3; a specimen cell 11 and a reference cell 10; a polychromator 14; a photodiode array 15; light selecting means 7 for allowing the photodiode array to receive a light which is separated by the polychromator after emerging from the specimen cell or the reference cell, or prohibiting the photodiode array to receive any light; a sample holding circuit; an A/D converter; and digital operating means for computing a spectrum of the specimen by distinguishing between the specimen signal, the reference signal and the dark signal through synchronization with the light selecting means; which is useful as a detector for a liquid chromatograph.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the wasteful addition of a heavy metal stabilizer and to satisfy the regulated elution value of heavy metals by controlling the amt. of the pH control agent to be added. SOLUTION: The smoke dust of a smoke dust hopper 10 is taken out and the specified amt. thereof is metered by a metering instrument 30. This smoke dust is mixed with a specified volume of water in a stirring vessel 32 and is stirred for 30 minutes by a stirrer 40. After the liquid is rested for 10 minutes, the supernatant liquid thereof is partly supplied by a sample loop 46 and a syringe pump 48 to the sample vial of an atomic absorption photometer 56 and the measuring vessel of an automatic titration device 58. The concn. of the heavy metals, as represented by lead, is automatically measured in this atomic absorption photometer 56. The P-alkalinity is automatically measured in the automatic titration device 58. The respective measured values are sent to a controller 2. The adequate amts. of the heavy metal stabilizer and the pH control agent are determined from the two measured values and the flow rates of pumps 20, 26 for sending the respective chemicals to a kneading device 12 are adjusted in this controller 2.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To detect the electric conductivity of a sample efficiently by detecting the electric conductivity of the sample on the basis of output voltages from metallic blocks when sample liquid and objective liquid are introduced into flow cell parts respectively, and compensating an output originating the electric conductivity of the objective liquid itself. CONSTITUTION:A measuring cell 1 is constituted by laminating metallic plates 4 and 4' provided with intakes 42 and 42' and outlets 43 and 43' on both surfaces of a metallic plate 6 across insulating plates 5 and 5' which has an elliptic opening in the center, and independent flow cell parts 7 and 7' are set on both surfaces of the metallic plate 6. A power source part 2 applies a reverse voltage to the metallic plates 4 and 4' through conductors 41 and 41'. A detection part 3 detects the voltage of the metallic block 6 through a conductor 61. An objective carrier liquid is introduced into the flow cells 7 and 7'. When a sample liquid is introduced into one flow cell, the output depending upon the electric conductivity of the carrier liquid itself is compensated and only a voltage based upon the electric conductivity of the sample is outputted to the output terminal of an operational amplifier 31, so that the electric conductivity of the sample is detected. Further, the measurement is performed with high sensitivity and high precision.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To inhibit errors by enabling the calibration of a sample signal on a reference signal and a dark signal after the sample signal, the reference signal and the dark signal are obtained distinguished in time division. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer 25 which monitors output signals of a photomicrosensor 19 provides a start signal SRT thereto as soon as turned ON but ignores a series of output signals obtained thereafter and then, after 60msec, it provides a start signal SRT thereto again to memorize a series of output signals subsequently obtained as data for reference signal. The ignoring of the initial series of output signals is required because these signals contain an integrated value when a light shielding portion 7b is on the optical path (l), hence, meaning a deficiency in the data. Then, the microcomputer 25 obtains and memorizes data for a sample signal by the same operation. The microcomputer 25 calculates the absorbance Alambda from data for the dark signal, reference signal and sample signal by the expression. The value Alambda thus obtained is memorized as spectrum or outputted to a recorder (not illustrated) as chromatogram.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance an S/N ratio and to improve sensitivity by setting a scanning range of specified wavelength in a sample absorbing region, obtaining absorbance of each wavelength in said range, performing integration, and drawing the chromatogram. CONSTITUTION:The wavelengths lambda1 and lambda2 of both ends in the suitable range of the absorption spectrum of a material to be detected are set in a control device 10. Only carrier fluid is flowed through a flow cell 3. The output of a unit element of a photodiode array 7 is read out, digitized, and stored in a memory M1. Then the sample is introduced, and the output of an array 7 is stored in a memory M2. Then, these contents are subtracted in a subtracting circuit 11, and the chromatogram is drawn on a recorder 13 through a computing circuit 12. Since the absorbance is integrated through the main range of the absorption spectrum, noises are offset and averaged, the S/N ratio can be enhanced, and the detecting sensitivity can be improved.
