    Abstract: A photodiode array spectrophotometric detector comprising a light source 2,3; a specimen cell 11 and a reference cell 10; a polychromator 14; a photodiode array 15; light selecting means 7 for allowing the photodiode array to receive a light which is separated by the polychromator after emerging from the specimen cell or the reference cell, or prohibiting the photodiode array to receive any light; a sample holding circuit; an A/D converter; and digital operating means for computing a spectrum of the specimen by distinguishing between the specimen signal, the reference signal and the dark signal through synchronization with the light selecting means; which is useful as a detector for a liquid chromatograph.

    Abstract: A detection signal from a multi-wavelength detector provided in a liquid chromatograph is stored in a data storage part, and a chromatogram is formed from the stored data with respect to a specific wavelength, to detect a peak from the chromatogram. The spectrum at a top of the peak to be identified or a known spectrum of a component to be identified is used as a reference spectrum, to calculate the degree of coincidence between the spectrum at each position of the chromatogram peak and the reference spectrum as fraction purity at each position of the chromatogram peak. The calculated fraction purity values are classified in colors, for example, and displayed on a display part. Thus, it is possible to readily decide whether the measured peak consists of a single component or at least two components, and which time range consists of a single component.

    Abstract: A chromatograph detector contains an arrangement for detecting a series of absorption spectra from a specimen flowing out of the column of the chromatograph at a number of times a short intervals. Each absorption spectrum is composed of a set of absorption data wrt. the wavelength and the light passing through the specimen. A chromatogram is produced from the series of absorption spectra. Peak sections contg. a target component of the specimen in the chromatograph are detected by another arrangement. A similarity value is computed for the absorption spectrum at any time and a standard spectrum for the target component. A threshold value is derived from the spectrum at the selected time, the standard spectrum and a chromatograph noise level . A further arrangement decides whether the spectrum is similar to the standard spectrum by comparing the similarity value with the threshold.
