Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a press wherein a sinusoidal punch movement process advantageous to a powder compression, a progressive transition of compression force and high flexibility of the press are combined. SOLUTION: This press for compressing powdery materials, particularly metallic powders has an eccentric crank mechanism for driving an upper punch unit, which is provided with at least one connecting rod 3 and a crankshaft 4, and a gear 5 connected to the crankshaft to rotate together with it. The gear 5 can be driven by at least one motor (7.1 or 7.2) through at least one worm gear (6.1 or 6.2). Further, the press has an electronic control unit which is adjusted so as to be capable of the reversible operation of crankshaft 4.
