Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve adhesiveness and suppress the deterioration,of an element by reforming the surface of a conducting substrate on the organic material containing layer side with a chemical adsorbent containing an alkyl silane derivative. CONSTITUTION: An ITO transparent electrode 5 applied with chemical adsorption treatment, a SiO2 insulating layer 9, a hole transportation layer 4, an electron transportation layer 2, and a negative electrode 1 are formed in sequence on a transparent substrate 6 to obtain an organic EL element 10. A DC voltage 7 is selectively applied between the electrode 5 serving as a positive electrode and the negative electrode 1, the holes injected from the electrode 5 are moved through the transportation layer 4, and the electrons injected from the negative electrode 1 are moved through the transportation layer 2 respectively. The electrons and holes are recoupled on the boundary face between the transportation layer 4 and the transportation layer 2, and the prescribed wavelength 8 is generated and can be observed from the substrate 6. The electrode 5 forms the ITO layer, and the surface of a conducting substrate on the organic material containing layer side can be modified by a chemical adsorbent containing an alkyl silane derivative.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To generate a plurality of tones with the same element according to applied voltage regardless of a simple layer structure by containing a specified aluminium medium in a light emitting layer and/or an electron transporting layer. CONSTITUTION: An organic EL element 2 as organic light emitting element consists of an ITO transparent electrode 5, a Hall transporting layer 4, a light emitting layer 3, an electron transporting layer 2, and a negative electrode 1, which are successively formed on a transparent base 6. An aluminium complex represented by the formula Al(L-O)2 S is contained in the light emitting layer 3 and/or the electron transporting layer 2. In the formula, L represents a ligand, and X represents a halogen atom, or a pair anion such as alkoxy group or phenoxy group.
