    Abstract: A recording film is coated and formed on a glass substrate. A protection substrate is adhered to the glass substrate to cover the recording film. A protection rib is formed as a body with the protection substrate so as to face an outer circumference edge of the glass substrate. Since the external shock is not given directly to the glass substrate by the protection rib, the glass substrate 1 can be protected. Thus, the glass substrate would not be cracked or damaged easily.

The outer face of the protective substrate 6 is satin-finished. Since the outer face of the glass substrate 1 and that of the protective substrate 6 are different from each other in light reflectance, discrimination between the front and rear sides of the resultant disk is enabled from high and low intensities of reflected light due to the difference in reflectance.

Since the head 8 is cooled by air sent by the fan 18 which is driven, the temperature of the head core 9 does not get high as in the conventional case, and the magnetic characteristic of the head core 9 is maintained to prevent the lowering of recording efficiency.

CONSTITUTION:Two sheets of MO disk media 22 (22U, 22L) are arranged to face oppositely. Only their outside of two sheets of MO disk media 22 become recordable/reproducable surfaces. A magnet 29 for auxiliary magnetic field is arranged between these MO disk media 22, and is shared by two sheets of MO disk media 22. A reproducing/recording head 25 and a reproducing/erase head 28 are fixed to the same base 11, and is mounted on a thread pedestal 12. Similarly, the reproducing erase head 26 and the reproducing/recording head 27 are fixed to the same base 11, and is mounted on the thread pedestal 12. Thus, a size of a plane of the thread pedestal 12 is reduced. The head similar to these heads is arranged among the heads 25-28, and the access time is shortened.
