    Abstract: A screen exhibiting a high contrast and a high gain and a method for manufacturing such a screen with an excellent mass productivity. The screen has an optical multilayer structure composed of a transparent support (11) and on each side of the transparent support (11) an alteration of a first optical film (12H) of high refractive index and a second optical film (12L) of a refractive index lower than that of the first optical film (12H), with the outermost layer being a first optical film (12H). The number of optical films of this multilayer structure is 2n+1 (n is one or more integer). Each optical film has a high reflection characteristic to a light in a specific wavelength band and a high transmission characteristic to a light in a band other than the specific wavelength band, especially at least to a light in the visible wavelength band.
