A projection screen capable of providing a clear and sharp image thereon without being affected by the brightness of a projection environment. The projection screen displays an image by projecting the narrow-band primaries wavelength band light, and includes on a screen substrate (2) an optical thin film (3) having a high reflection characteristic to the narrow-band primaries wavelength band light and a high transmission characteristic to the visible wavelength band light other than the aforementioned wavelength band light. In the projection screen, the optical thin film (3) plays a role as a so-called a band filter. That is, the optical thin film (3) functions as a narrow-band primaries wavelength band filter having the effect of particularly reflecting the narrow-band primaries wavelength band light and substantially transmitting the light of the other wavelength, thereby separating these two kinds of light.

SOLUTION: The optical element package is provided with: one or two or more optical elements; a support for supporting the one or two or more optical elements; and a package member for packaging the one or two or more optical elements and the support and having contractive properties. A pair of opposed sides of sides forming a principal surface of the support are closed by the package member and the thickness t of the support, the length L of the side of the support closed by the package member and tensile force F of the package member acting in a direction parallel to the side having the length L satisfy a relation of 0≤F≤1.65×10 4 ×t/L under the environment of 70°C. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission type screen on which high contrast images can be displayed by eliminating the adverse effect of outdoor daylight. SOLUTION: A filter 9 that transmits light of a prescribed wavelength area corresponding to projected light and absorbs light of a visible wavelength area except light of the prescribed wavelength area is disposed between a Fresnel lens 1 and a lenticular lens 11. Such a filter 9 has reflection faces on both of its sides, at least one of which has high reflection properties to light of prescribed wavelength area, and is obtained by arranging selective reflection layers 3 at an angle of 45° to the axial direction of incident light and in the direction of light reflection, each selective reflection layer 3 being a selective reflection face which has high absorption properties to light of the visible wavelength area except the prescribed wavelength area. SOLUTION: The rear projector device 10 includes: a projecting part (projector light source 1) which projects image light; a reflecting mirror 2 which reflects light L P projected from the projecting part; and a screen 3 onto which light L R reflected from the reflecting mirror 2 is projected from back. The reflecting mirror 2 has reflection properties relative to light in a prescribed wavelength band corresponding to the image light, and also absorption properties relative to light in a visible wavelength band excepting the prescribed wavelength band.
