Abstract: A solid state image pick up device includes means for cancelling difference of impedance between photo-sensing areas in a photo-sensitive array. The impedance difference cancelling means cancels or makes the difference of impedance at every photo-sensing areas ignorable to unify the handling charge in respective photo-sensing areas. In practice, the impedance difference cancelling means provides a resistance high enough to make the impedance difference between respective photo-sensing areas ignorable.

The time of supply of a discharge pulse (P1) is selected to apply said predetermined voltage to said substrate.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a phase reference signal without receiving the influence of the delay of a video signal and to perform signal processing in unit of picture element with high accuracy. CONSTITUTION:An optical black area 15 incapable of receiving light is arranged at the outside of the effective picture element area of an image pickup element such as a CCD, etc., and a position reference picture element 16 is arranged at a prescribed position of the optical black area 15. The position reference picture element 16 outputs a signal with constant level for an optical black level outputted from another picture element in the optical black area 15. The signal of the position reference picture element 16 is detected from an image pickup output video signal, and it is used as the phase reference signal.
