Abstract: A magnetic disk apparatus suitable for use as a hard disk apparatus in a computer system. The apparatus includes a disk-like medium having a magnetic film formed on a surface, which information is recorded on or reproduced from; and magnetic heads (20 - 31) for recording on or reproducing from the information the disk-like medium. The disk-like medium has data recording regions (20 - 41D) and control signal recording regions (20 - 40), (20 - 41H). In the data recording regions, data tracks are raised and adjacent data tracks are separated by recessing guard bands (20 - 20). In the control signal recording region, on the other hand, tracking marks (20 - 12), (20 - 13) for tracking control of the magnetic heads, track number marks (20 - 71) for stipulating the tracks , track numbers (20 - 41b1), (20 - 41b2) and clock marks (20 - 11) for equidistantly dividing a circumference are formed in projections and recesses along the paths (21 - 21) of the magnetic heads. In this apparatus, the guard band is recessed with respect to the track. Accordingly, the guard band needs not be expanded so as to reduce cross-talk, and a recording capacity can be increased by reducing the track pitch. Because the tracking mark and the track number mark or the clock mark are formed in projections and recesses along the paths of the magnetic heads, accurate access becomes possible even when the track pitch is reduced.

The eccentricity magnitude measuring means measures the signal corresponding to the eccentricity by some method such as calculating the number of tracks which the reproduction head crosses or using the non-uniformity of spacing observed in a string of clock pulses reproduced from the uniformly spaced clock marks in the disc.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately control tracking at the reproduction operation of an optical disk in which one of a data unrecorded portion and a data recorded portion of track, has extremely lower reflectivity than the other which has extremely higher reflectivity than the one. SOLUTION: The main laser beam irradiates a desired track of an optical disk. One and the other sublaser beam irradiates one and the other gap portions adjacent to the desired track by following and preceding to the main laser beam. The tracking error signal is generated based on the main reflected light received and one and the other sub reflected light. It detects that the irradiation position of the main laser beam reaches the recorded boundary position and the unrecorded boundary position based on a change in the light quantity of one or the other sub reflected light. The tracking error signal is corrected while the other track of extremely higher reflectivity is irradiated with the main laser beam. Even when the irradiation position with the main laser beam is displaced over the data unrecorded portion and the data recorded portion, tracking can be controlled accurately by preventing a change in the amplitude of the tracking error signal. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a suppressing rate of external disturbance by synthesizing a sine wave generated from a sine wave generating means to supply it to an actuator driving means and making a recording/reproducing head follow up to the external disturbance synchronized to the rotation of a disk-like recording medium. SOLUTION: Servo pits inscribed on an optical disk 1 are read out by a pickup 2, and based on these data, tracking error signals are produced in a tracking error signal detector 4. The tracking error signals are made to AFC input signals and multiplied respectively by cosine wave data from a cosine wave table 93 and by sine wave data from a sine wave table 94 in multipliers 95, 96, then cumulatively added respectively in cumulating adders 99, 100 after appropriately amplified by amplifiers 97, 98. The cumulatively added values are multiplied by the cosine wave, sine wave data in multipliers 101, 102 and made to AFC output signals.
