Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the whitening phenomenon of pictures by a simple constitution in which a means to drying an ink ribbon in advance is provided. CONSTITUTION:A ribbon 30 is fed in contact with a heating plate 41, during which period moisture present in the ribbon 30 is vaporized and the ribbon 30 is dried. The dried ribbon 30 is supplied to a heat-sensitive head 19, and therefore, the evaporation of moisture by heating in the head 19 can be eliminated. The generation of gases and crimping by vaporization can be eliminated and the whitening phenomenon of pictures can thus be prevented.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To realize 100% charging at all times without causing abnormal ending by checking the temperature variation of a battery at the time of starting the charging operation, suspending quick charging when the temperature variation may cause erroneous detection of the end of quick charging, and performing quick charging when the temperature variation is low. CONSTITUTION:When an AC plug PLG is fed with an input voltage, a microcomputer 24 determines connection of a battery pack 10 and measures the temperature of a battery 11 every predetermined interval through a temperature detection element RTH before starting quick charging. When the detection results represent constant temperature or temperature drop of the battery 11, quick charging is started for the battery 11. When the detection results represent temperature rise of the battery 11, quick charging is suspended until the detection results becomes smaller than a value causing erroneous detection of the end of quick charging. When the detection results become smaller than the value causing erroneous detection of the end of quick charging, quick charging is started for the battery 11.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable a head to be accurately stopped at a predetermined position, by once stopping a DC motor being rotated when the first detection point of an operating element is detected by a sensor, thereafter driving the motor by pulses, and thereafter stopping the motor when a second detection point is detected. CONSTITUTION:When a DC motor 7 is rotated in the direction of an arrow (a) and the first detection point alpha of an operating part 10a of a turnable lever 10 comes into a recessed part of a sensor 8, a sensor circuit block 20 generates a position detection signal, and a driving current for the motor 7 is cut off based on the signal, thereby rapidly stopping the motor 7. Thereafter, pulses generated by a motor-controlling block 22 are supplied to the motor 7 through a motor-driving block 23 to rotate the motor 7 at a low speed. When the second detection point gamma of the operating part 10b is passed through the recessed part of the sensor 8, the sensor circuit block 20 generates a position detection signal, whereby the generation of the pulses is topped, and a reverse current driving signal for braking is supplied from a braking timing block 24 to the motor 7.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable a thermal head to be securely protected from being burned due to an overcurrent, by a method wherein it is detected whether or not printing data are present in a normal period of time, it is detected whether or not a thermal head is located at a normal printing position making contact with a platen, and supply of a driving power source is controlled by the logical sum of the detection outputs. CONSTITUTION:The first position sensor part 10 detects whether or not the thermal head 5 is located at the printing position, and outputs a detection signal to a signal input terminal 30A of a thermal head protective circuit 30. The printing data are supplied to a printing data input terminal of a thermal head driving part 25 through a signal input terminal 20, and are supplied to a signal input terminal 30B of the protective circuit 30. The protective circuit 30 detects whether the printing data to be supplied to the driving part 25 are present in a normal period of time, detects whether or not the head 5 is located at the normal printing position making contact with the platen 1, and a relay coil switch 40B is opened and closed by the logical sum of the detection outputs, thereby controlling the supply of the driving power source to the driving part 25.
