Abstract: A portable magnetic card writer for a card (30) with a magnetic stripe (32) provided thereon comprises a chassis (4, 5), driving means (12, 13, 27 - 29) mounted on the chassis (4, 5) for moving the card (30) to and fro, means (20 -23) for guiding the card (30) along the chassis (4, 5), a magnetic writing head (19) mounted on the chassis (4, 5), a magnetic reading head (17) mounted on the chassis (4, 5), and printer means (14) for writing data in the card (30) at a portion (31) other than the magnetic stripe (32).
