    Abstract: A tape cassette for a magnetic recording and/or reproducing apparatus has at least one reel contained in a housing formed with an opening through which a tape wound on the reel can be withdrawn from the cassette housing for the recording of signals thereon or reproducing the signals therefrom, by one or more rotary magnetic heads, and a lid is provided to normally close the housing opening when the cassette is not in use and thereby to protect the tape from damage. The cassette is provided with a brake member which is responsive to the position of the lid thereby to prevent rotation of the reel when the lid closes the opening and to permit free rotation of the reel when the opening is exposed for use in the recording and/or reproducing apparatus.

    Abstract: A carrying handle (20) for a compact video camera (1) which is not provided with carrying handle connections per se, is generally C-shaped with a lower horizontal portion (20a) which extends beneath the underside of the camera and is secured thereto by a screw (22) which is threaded into a threaded bore (8) provided in the camera (1) for connecting a tripod. A vertical portion (20b) of the handle (20) has a forward facing connection site which can operatively engage with a battery mounting site provided at the rear of the camera (1) and a rearward facing battery site to receive a battery (10). The rearward facing mounting site is electrically connected with the forward facing connection site so that power from the battery (10) can be supplied to the camera (1). A grip portion (20c) of the handle (20) extends forward in spaced relationship over the top of the camera (10). Hot shoes (28, 29) are formed at the forward end of the grip portion (20c) and operatively connected with the rearward facing mounting site so as to enable power to be supplied thereto from the battery (10).

    Abstract: An image display system for stereoscopic reproduction of a visual scene has two LCD panels (22L, 22R) disposed individually so as to be seen by the left eye and right eye respectively. The stereoscopic video signal is arranged so that the left eye image is provided by the even field and the right eye image provided by the odd field, with the LCD panels being arranged so that they are only drive to display when the respective field is detected (16). Further disclosed is an imaging system (see Fig. 7) which detects abrupt changes in the position of the wearer's head. This allows the LCD shield (103) to become transparent so that the wearer can see the outside view immediately.
