The video camera (60) includes a micro-computer (63) having a communication circuit (65) for receiving the information from the battery pack (1), a calculation circuit (66) for calculating the current residual battery capacity based on the information from the battery pack (1) received by the communication circuit (65), and a display control circuit (67). A display device (64) is supplied with a display signal corresponding to the results of calculations by the calculation circuit (66) of the micro-computer (63) so as to display the residual battery capacity based on the display signal.
Abstract:
There are provided plural kinds of battery packs (10) having an optional number of battery cells (11), a battery charger (30) capable of charging the battery packs (10) and an electronic equipment capable of using the battery packs (10). In a battery pack (10) having the optional number of cells (11) built therein, a terminal is provided in the same position as a terminal position in one cell pack. A charger (30) and an electronic equipment using a pack have a pack fixing plane capable of fixing a pack (10) having at least two cells (11) built in parallel, and comprise engaging means (31, 32, 34, 35) for engaging at least one cell pack (10) with the battery pack fixing plane and connecting means (38, 39) connected to positive electrode and negative electrode terminals of the one cell pack (10) and disposed at such a position that charging or discharging can be performed. Accordingly, packs having various shapes can be used.

Abstract:
In a battery pack, it is required that information on a contained battery (23) of the battery pack, such as the accurate state of charge of the battery (23), can be detected by external equipment (27). A communication terminal (24) which can communicate the state of charge of the contained battery (23) to the external equipment (27) is provided on the installation surface on which power supply terminals (25, 26) of the battery pack are provided or on a surface adjacent to the installation surface. This configuration allows the corresponding electrodes (30, 31) or the like of the external equipment (27) to be concentrated at one place, so that the space required to arrange the corresponding electrodes (30, 31) or the like is reduced, thus allowing for downsizing of the external equipment (27).

Abstract:
The rechargeable battery (3) is detachably mounted in the electronic equipment for being driven by the rechargeable battery as an internal power source. The power source adapter (4) is adapted for supplying power to the electronic equipment from outside, and includes first rechargeable battery (5), a unit (61) for generating a charging voltage for charging the first rechargeable battery and a second rechargeable battery (3) loaded on the electronic equipment, a first charging unit for charging the first rechargeable battery, a switching unit (64) for switching between supplying the charging voltage to the first charging unit and supplying the charging voltage to the electronic equipment, a detection unit (62) for detecting completion of charging of the first rechargeable battery, and a switching control unit for controlling the switching of the switching unit responsive to an output of the detection unit. The electronic equipment includes the second rechargeable battery as an internal drive for driving the electronic equipment, and a second charging unit (22) for receiving the charging voltage from the power source adapter for charging the second rechargeable battery. Since the second rechargeable battery is externally mounted on the power source adapter, and is charged more promptly than the first rechargeable battery loaded within the main body of the video camera, the first rechargeable battery may be exchanged for the first rechargeable battery loaded on the main body for setting the video camera into operation without the necessity of waiting for the end of charging of the first rechargeable battery.
