Abstract: PURPOSE:To surely detect a cassette with a simple constitution by discriminating that the tape cassette is not loaded when the optical output is not detected in a light receiving part. CONSTITUTION:When the cassette 1 is loaded, the light outputted from a tape end detecting means 21S of one side is interrupted by the main body of cassette and not attained to another tape end detecting means 21T. So, when the optical output from the detecting means 21S is not detected by another detecting means 21T, the cassette 1 is decided as in the loaded state. Further, a flickering light L transmitting through a tape-like recording medium 10 drawn out from a reel 5 of supply side is received, and the light received result is detected at the timings of fall and rise of a signal level. The level difference in the obtained light receiving result is converted to a digital value to obtain the detection result of the transmitting light, and similarly the detection result of the transmitting light of the winding take-up side is obtained. The level difference in the detection results of transmitting light at the supply and take-up sides is compared with the comparison reference. Then, a leader tape of the medium 10 is detected with the simple constitution.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To convert and record a bit of information based on a first format to a bit of information based on a second format by detecting the changing point of a bit of first sub-code information with a sub-code information generating means for the first sub-code information excluding TOC information and generating a bit of second sub-code information based on a detecting flag. CONSTITUTION:At sub-code information generating sources 2-5, the first sub- code information including TOC (table of contents) information, namely, corresponding to a CD format is generated, processed by a processing means 9 and based on the output signal, the second sub-code information corresponding to a DAT format is generated by a sub-code information generating means 17. Then, the first sub-code information excluding the TOC information detects the changing point and based on the detecting flag, the second sub-code information is generated. The TOC information is converted to the second sub-code information by the processing means 9 and outputted through the sub-code information generating means 17. In a recording means 8, the second sub-code information is recorded together with a bit of main information.

When the reproducing clock as the revolving speed information is generated, the control signals for revolving speed of the drum(21, 24, 25) are generated by utilizing the clock signal as the revolving speed information. The servo-control for revolving speed of drum is executed by means of these control signals for revolving speed of the drum.

CONSTITUTION:With detection output signals that can be obtained from a read signal detection part to which respective outputs of plural magnetic head parts 10 and 11 are supplied, the outputs of plural magnetic head parts 10 and 11 in which the information signals that the magnetic recording medium has read are discriminated. A switching control part discriminates the output in which the information signals that the magnetic recording medium 12 has read can be obtained among the outputs of plural magnetic head parts 10 and 11 by the detection output signal obtained from the read signal detection part. The switching control part causes a switching part 20 to operate to fetch the outputs of the magnetic head parts 10 and 11, which are discriminated to be able to obtain the information signals that the magnetic recording medium 12 has read. Thus, the information signals which have been read from the magnetic recording medium 12 are sequentially fetched from the switching part 20.

The ECC circuit 14 performs error correction making a unit lumped in the same time region from the recorded data encoder 13 as an error detection unit.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To detect the moving extent of a tape with a simple constitution even when no CTL signal is recorded by providing a fixed head having the head gap of a slope corresponding to the magnetization pattern of a track and detecting a track crossing the fixed head in response to the tape running. CONSTITUTION:A fixed head FH having a gap G in the same direction as the magnetization pattern of a track TA among tracks TA, TB recorded by heads A, B is provided to the transverse center of a tape T. The head FH crosses the track TA at a period T1 and moves gradually to the track TB, then the output of the hand FH is gradually smaller in the amplitude at the left side of the period T1 toward the right side. On the other hand, an inverted output is obtained at a period T2. This signal is compared with a threshold level via an amplifier, a detection circuit and a waveform shaping circuit and an obtained pulse is counted to detect the moving extent of the tape.

That is, after that an output corresponding to the quantity of light receiving by the element 22T is converted to digital level data by an A/D converter part 37 and a level calculation part 38, whether it is the top of the tape or nor, is detected by a controller part 31 based on the output of a comparator 40. At this time, in the case of detecting the top of the tape or in the case of detecting the end of the tape is in the case that the light L is detected by the light receiving elements 22S and 22T. Therefore, the processing for case where not cassette in loaded, is executed if it is judged that no cassette exists.
