Abstract:
A temperature-responsive magnetic device comprising a pair of permanent magnet elements, each partly enclosed in a separate magnetic element that has temperature-responsive variable permeability, is provided for attachment to the wall of a color cathode ray tube to compensate for beam mislanding on the color phosphor screen caused by thermal expansion of a beam selecting mask in the tube. The avoidance of mislanding is necessary to maintain fine color purity of color television images produced by the tube.
Abstract:
A color cathode ray tube arrangement wherein a temperature responsive magnetic device which comprises a permanent magnet element and a magnetic element having temperature responsive variable permeability is provided on a color cathode ray tube to compensate for beam mislanding on the color phosphor screen of the color cathode ray tube caused by thermal expansion of a beam selecting mask in the tube thereby to maintain fine color purity.

1458542 Colour television tubes SONY CORP 15 March 1974 [19 March 1973] 11725/74 Heading H1D [Also in Division H4] In a colour TV tube of the shadow mask type misregistration due to thermal expansion of the mask is prevented by providing means 8 including a plurality of coils which produce a magnetic field to change the beam paths when a current is passed and means including devices sensing the temperatures of the tube and of the structure and which varies the current according to the difference between the said temperatures. The means 8 comprise a pair of magnetic cores 6 carrying coils 7 and mounted on the funnel portion of the C.R.T. The thickness and material of the bent portions may differ from the straight portions. The position of the structure relative to the screen can be such that the current increases or decreases as the temperature increases. The current 9 includes thermistors with negative temperature coefficients of resistance attached to the CRT chassis and to a core 6 which changes in temperature in the same manner as the structure. The circuit also ineludes a variable resistor which allows the circuit to be used to compensate for maladjustment occurring during manufacture.

Abstract:
A system for compensating for mislanding of electron beams in a color cathode ray tube, which comprises a coil device provided on the color cathode ray tube in addition to a main deflection coil, a circuit for producing a plurality of currents having different wave forms, respectively, and a connecting device for connecting the coil device to selected one of connection points of the circuit so as to supply one or more of the currents produced in the circuit, which has a desired wave form, to said coil device selectively in response to the direction to which the color cathode ray tube faces, thereby to achieve sufficient compensation for mislanding of electron beams caused by the earth's magnetic field regardless of the directional situation of the cathode ray tube.
