Abstract:
There is provided a carbon dioxide immobilization unit capable of easily immobilizing carbon dioxide in the form of an organic acid or a carbohydrate under a normal environment. An anode 1 and a cathode 2 both having a surface where an oxidoreductase is present are disposed to face each other with a proton conductor 3 in between. Then, when electric power is externally supplied to the carbon dioxide immobilization unit, in the anode 1, water is decomposed to produce protons, and in the cathode 2, an organic acid or a carbohydrate is produced from the protons produced in the anode 1 and carbon dioxide. At this time, while a carbon dioxide supply section 5 supplies a high concentration of carbon dioxide to the cathode 2, oxygen produced in the anode 1 and the organic acid or hydrocarbon produced in the cathode 2 are removed from a reaction system through an oxygen removal section 4 and a product recovery section 6, respectively.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for immobilizing carbon dioxide, which can readily immobilize carbon dioxide in the form of an organic acid or a carbohydrate under ordinary environments.SOLUTION: In the device for immobilizing carbon dioxide, an anode 1 and a cathode 2 on which an oxidoreductase is present on the surfaces thereof are so arranged as to face each other through a proton conductor 3. Electric power is input from the outside, so that water is decomposed in the anode 1 to generate a proton and an organic acid or a carbohydrate is generated from the proton generated in the anode 1 and carbon dioxide in the cathode 2. In the generation of the organic acid or the carbohydrate, a high concentration of carbon dioxide is supplied from a carbon dioxide supply unit 5 to the cathode 2, and oxygen generated in the anode 1 and the organic acid or the carbohydrate generated in the cathode 2 are removed from the reaction system respectively through an oxygen removal unit 4 and a product collection unit 6.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biofuel cell in which fuel can be supplied to a plurality of cells connected in series.SOLUTION: In the biofuel cell having a stacked-cell structure in which power generation parts each provided with an electrode (an anode and/or a cathode) having oxidoreductase present on a surface thereof are connected in series, a fuel supply part communicating with fuel injection ports of the respective power generation parts is provided. After a fuel solution is injected from the fuel supply part, the fuel supply part and the respective fuel injection ports are closed by a lid, thereby keeping the charged fuel solution separated.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell capable of suppressing insects from swarming around in the case of the leakage of a fuel solution. SOLUTION: The fuel cell has a living thing repelling performance by vegetable essential oil and/or its component. The living thing repelling performance by the vegetable essential oil can be obtained by including the vegetable essential oil in fuel or by being applied to at least a part of the case. In the fuel cell, it possible to effectively suppress insects from swarming around on the fuel solution by the living thing repelling performance of the vegetable essential oil even if a compound which can be a biological nutrient is used as a fuel and such a fuel solution causes leakage. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell and its manufacturing method wherein output is improved by optimization of a negative electrode structure. SOLUTION: In the fuel cell having a structure in which a positive electrode 2 and a negative electrode 1 are opposed to each other via a proton conductor 3, and of which at least the negative electrode 1 is consisting of an enzyme-immobilized electrode 11, a porous electrode having at least one through-hole 12 or non-through-hole is used as the electrode 11. Enzyme, coenzyme, and an electronic mediator are immobilized on the electrode 11. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an enzyme ink which allows for production of an enzyme electrode that can use a hydrophilic enzyme and a promoter molecule while mixing them uniformly, and can obtain a high current density by direct electron transfer reaction, while suppressing elution of the promoter molecule, and to provide a production method of an enzyme electrode using the enzyme ink, and an enzyme fuel cell using an enzyme electrode produced using the enzyme ink.SOLUTION: The enzyme ink contains carbon particles, a hydrophilic binder, an oxidoreductase, a promoter molecule promoting electron transition between the carbon particles and oxidoreductase, and a solvent containing at least water. An enzyme electrode 13 is produced by applying or printing the enzyme ink 12 onto a substrate 11. The enzyme electrode 13 is used as a positive electrode or a negative electrode of an enzyme fuel cell.
