Abstract: A plurality of successive evacuating carts for carrying respective cathode-ray tube bulbs thereon are circulatingly fed along a looped feed path into and out of an evacuating furnace. While in the evacuating furnace, the cathode-ray tube bulb carried on each of the evacuating carts is evacuated, and the evacuating pipe 4 thereof is sealed. An evacuating pipe detecting device 103, e.g. a photoelectric device, is disposed at a position along the feed path for detecting whether the evacuating pipe of the cathode-ray tube bulb carried on each of the evacuating carts is damaged or not. If the evacuating pipe of any cathode-ray tube bulb is detected as being damaged and part remains on the evacuating cart, the evacuating cart is discharged out of the feed path, and a replacement evacuating cart is charged into the feed path. Failure of the apparatus for sealing the bulbs may also be detected.

A plurality of arranged parts are lifted by the lift to connect the uppermost part 20 and suction device to each other, allow the suction device to suck the uppermost part 20, move the suction device for conveying the uppermost part 20 from the lift and additionally lower the lift for disposing the next part 22 succeeding the uppermost part in the lowered position in the processes of the parts conveying method.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To automate vacuum air discharge and electrosealing processes completely by providing an air discharge tube detection device, a dummy air discharge tube insertion/takeout device, an electrosealing jig detection device, and a switch changing device. CONSTITUTION:A cathode-ray tube body 1 mounted on a vacuum air discharge device 11 is transferred into an air discharge furnace 13 with the device 11, and after vaccum air discharge, an air discharge tube is sealed. Next, after sealing, if the air discharge tube is broken or not is detected automatically by an air discharge tube detection device 18. In the case where the tube body 1 is not charged to the device 11 at a charge position for the tube body 1, a dummy air discharge tube is inserted into an air discharge port of the device 11 automatically by a first dummy air discharge tube insertion/ takeout device 22A before it gets into the furnace 13, and after it is transferred out of the furnace 13, it is taken out automatically by a second dummy air discharge tube insertion/takeout device 22B. Detection of defective work, etc., and condition change of the device 11 are automated by electrosealing jig detection devices 143, 144 and a switch changing device 130, thereby vacuum air discharge and electrosealing processes can be automated completely.

The PLC 1 transfers the data written in the specified data memory area to a channel area to process the data as parallel data. Partial data are directly read out from the data memory area and processed.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To optimize the location of a light shutoff board in a panel assembly of a cathode-ray tube so that the exposure light is not incident to a dummy slit when a phosphor is exposed through a slit which constitutes a color selection mechanism. CONSTITUTION: A light shutoff board 21 in the condition inclined with reference to a slit is advanced toward the outermost slit 14 so that one end 14A of the outermost slit is blocked with one end of the board. The board is further advanced and stopped when its other end blocks the other end 14B of the outermost slit 14. In the condition that the latter other end of board is fixed substantially, the other end of the board is retreated and located in the final position. From this location, the board is again advanced until it blocks the outermost slit entirely.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To readily and instantaneously recognize an optimum operating position through visual observation by providing a position detection device with a plurality of position indicator lamps, and causing the lamps to provide different indications in the plurality of operating ranges of a subject for position detection. CONSTITUTION:To control operation of a cylinder rod 10 which is a sliding member, the position of a detection point 13, which is a subject for position detection, is detected using automatic switches 11, 12 for recognizing returning and going out, respectively. A position detection device is provided with at least more than three indicator lamps 20. The indicator lamps 20 are turned on in different ways in the plurality of operating ranges of the detection point 13, including an optimum operating range. The position indicator lamps 20 comprise three light-emitting diodes provided parallel to e.g. the direction in which the cylinder rod 10 slides, and preferably provide three kinds of indication, i.e., two of them emitting red and green and the other turned off. In the above operating ranges, indications of the lamps are changed from a combination of red, green and colorless; to that of colorless, green and colorless ; to that of colorless, green and red; therefore, an optimum operating position is readily detected.
