PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator for a battery having high heat resistance, a method for manufacturing the separator for a battery, a battery, a battery pack, and an electronic device.SOLUTION: The separator for a battery has a first face and a second face opposite to the first face, and comprises a porous substrate 130 containing pores running from the first face to the second face, and a heat-resistant layer 131 composed of an inorganic material, covering at least the first face and the surfaces surrounding the pores, and deposited by atomic layer deposition. The separator for a battery is provided with the heat-resistant layer by atomic layer deposition so that the heat-resistant layer is formed not only on the face of the substrate but also on the surfaces surrounding the pores in the substrate. Thus the separator has higher heat resistance than separators having the heat-resistant layer only on the face of the substrate.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass insert disposed at an inner section of an injection hole for a gas chromatograph sample whereby the sample is sufficiently circulated by convection to be mixed without being absorbed to the inner section of the glass insert. SOLUTION: An inner shape of a glass insert 9 to be disposed at an inner section of an injection hole of a gas chromatograph sample has a recess-shaped cross section. A surface area of the inner section of the glass insert becomes comparatively small so that the sample is hardly absorbed to the inner section of the insert 9 and is sufficiently circulated by convection to be mixed at a part of the recess provided in the lower part of the glass insert 9. As a result, it is possible to prevent variation of the peak area value of the gas chromatograph and deterioration of the peak shape, thereby achieving accurate analysis.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out accurate, easy and rapid quantitative analysis of a surface lubricant on the surface of a magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: The lubricant 105 on the surface of a magnetic recording medium 100 is quantitatively analyzed. Then the lubricant 105 is removed from the surface of the magnetic recording medium after the quantitative analysis of the lubricant so as to prepare a reference sample. The surface of the reference sample is quantitatively analyzed. Both analyses are compared to each other to determine the quantity of the lubricant on the surface of the magnetic recording medium 100.

PURPOSE:To improve the mechanical strength of a molded article by a method wherein the ester of 2,2-bis(4' Cellosolve phenyl) propane acid, soft magnetic ferrite powder and thermoplastic resin are contained in the ferrite resin. CONSTITUTION:The ferrite resin contains the ester of 2,2-bis(4' Cellosolve phenyl) propane and fatty acid, soft magnetic ferrite powder and thermoplastic resin. The above-mentioned ester is shown by the formula separately mentioned. By using the ester of 2,2-bis(4' Cellosolve phenyl) propane and fatty acid as a lubricant, the mechanical strength of a mold ferrite molded article can be improved. Also, as the decomposition temperature of the above-mentioned lubricant is around 400 deg.C and it is relatively high, the range of selection of the usable binder resin is widened, the binder resin having high mechanical strength can be used and the mechanical strength of the mold ferrite molded article can be improved.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a β-crystal nucleating agent efficiently affording a β-crystal-based polypropylene product used for a separator etc., for a nonaqueous electrolyte battery without being accompanied by bad effects such as red coloring in high yield at a low cost without using a special apparatus and operation. SOLUTION: An amine salt-based compound represented by general formula (1) (wherein, R1 represents 3-18C saturated or unsaturated alicycle or aromatic dicarboxylic acid residue; and R2 and R3 may be same or different, and represent each 3-18C saturated or unsaturated alicyle or aromatic amine residue) or general formula (2) (wherein, R4 and R5 represent each 3-18C saturated or unsaturated alicyle or aromatic dicarboxylic acid residue) is used as the β-crystal nucleating agent.
