Abstract:
This apparatus comprises means for extracting at least the prefixed part of a text broadcasting information transmitted by use of the vertical blanking period of television signals; means for designating desired text information of the text information transmitted by the text broadcasting; means for separating only the desired text information according to the information recognized by the recognizing means; means for recording the desired text information thus separated; means for reproducing the recorded text information; and means for outputting the reproduced text information by inserting it into the given lines within the period of the vertical blanking.
Abstract:
A PCM (pulse code modulated) audio signal recording and/or reproducing apparatus is disclosed, in which a scanning track area formed by one scanning of a rotary head (1, HA, HB) on a tape (2) is separated into a plurality of track areas in its longitudinal direction to thereby form multi-channel segment track areas and the PCM audio signal (SL, SR) is recorded on and/or reproduced from each of segment track areas of each channel on the tape (2). According to this apparatus, when a plurality of programs are sequentially recorded in a timer scheduled event recording mode, it becomes possible to select (30) a recording mode (S) (series recording mode) in which the recording is carried out only on the segment track area of one channel and a mode (P) (parallel recording mode) in which the recording is sequentially carried out on segment track areas of different channels.
Abstract:
There is realized a cassette (41a,41b) with a memory (MIC) in which the writing time is short, it can be accessed in a short time, and there is no need to provide an apparatus side of a main body with an additional memory. The memory (MIC) comprises an EEPROM (SPACE 0) to store fundamental data such as table of contents (TOC) information or the like, and a large capacity memory (SPACE 1), for example, flash memory, to store data.
Abstract:
A digital video and audio signal recording and/or reproducing device comprises: a recording format having a first recording area for recording a coded video signal, a second recording area for recording a coded audio signal, and a third recording area for recording an audio associated data constructed in pack form; means for coding the video signal and recording it in the first recording area; means for coding the audio signal and recording it in the second recording area; means for forming in pack the audio-associated information inserted in a vertical blanking period of the video signal and recording it in the third recording area; means for reproducing the coded video signal from the first recording area and coding the video signal; means for reproducing the coded audio signal from the second recording area and coding the audio signal; and means for reproducing the audio-associated information formed in pack from the third recording area and reading out the associated information.
Abstract:
The invention provides an input device (1) which includes a gripping part (2), a pointing part, and at least one depressible part (6) furnished in such a manner that while holding the gripping part by hand, a user may manipulate the pointing and depressible parts with fingertips to perform the same kinds of operations as those of a mouse. The input device may include a rotating and/or a pivoting part (7) and at least one operating element which provide a still wider variety of functions when operated.
Abstract:
A signal format and a reproducing apparatus compatible with that format protect copyright in recorded video and audio data against digital and analog dubbing. The reproducing apparatus senses (6) copyright information included in a signal reproduced from a recording medium to generate (10) a copyright protection signal which is placed in a vertical blanking interval of an analog output of the reproducing apparatus. If a Serial Copy Management System (SCMS) signal is reproduced, it is supplied to a digital VCR (20). The copyright protection signal disrupts the AGC of a recording analog VCR and the SCMS signal prevents a digital VCR from digitally dubbing the reproduced video and audio data.
Abstract:
A video signal recording apparatus digitally records on a storage medium a video signal comprising an image signal, an audio signal, and an audio-associated information signal, the audio-associated information signal is included in a vertical blanking period of the video signal, the audio- associated information is collected, formatted, and digitally recorded in an area separate from areas where the image signal and audio signal are recorded.
Abstract:
A digital video signal is recorded in a first number of tracks in a standard play (SP) mode and in a second number of tracks in a long play (LP) mode, wherein each frame of the digital video signal is recorded in first and second sets of tracks in the SP mode and in only a first set of tracks in the LP mode, each track having subcode data recorded therein for locating frames during a high speed search of the record medium. The digital video signal is compressed prior to recording in both the SP and LP modes, with the compression ratio being greater in the LP mode. When the digital video signal is recorded in the SP mode, the subcode data is of a first type for recording in the first set of tracks and is of a second type for recording in the second set of tracks; whereas when the digital video signal is recorded in the LP mode, only one type of subcode data is recorded. Hence, in the SP mode, a frame of compressed digital video signals includes subcode data of both types; and in the LP mode, a frame of compressed digital video signals contains subcode data of only one type.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods are provided for variable length encoding and transmitting a plurality of predetermined portions of digital image signals which has been encoded to compress image data therein. Each of the plurality of predetermined portions is variable length encoded to form a corresponding one of a plurality of variable length encoded portions. The amount of data in each of the portions is limited so that an amount of data contained in the corresponding variable length encoded portion is equal to or less than a predetermined target value. The variable length encoded portions are arranged in a plurality of sync blocks having a predetermined data length such that each portion is contained entirely within a respective number of sync blocks and the sync blocks are transmitted via a transmission medium.
