Abstract: To provide a television interphone system designed to solve the problem of difficulty in adequately recognizing a visitor because of restriction of the visual field in the vertical direction due to the size of the picture frame sideways long. If the aspect ratio of the image receiving size of an image input section of a slave unit is about 3:4, a corresponding display is made by converting the aspect ratio of a monitor section of a master unit into 1:1. By this display method, problems relating to recognition of a visitor outdoors primarily needed with respect to a television interphone system, such as a problem of a little child visitor short in height being out of the visual field, and a problem in confirming whether a visitor is doing something suspicious or holding a dangerous thing, can be effectively solved.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the externally thin and narrow designs for a flat display device and a video interphone system using the display device. SOLUTION: A flat display module consists of a flat cathode-ray tube CT, a deflecting yoke DY and a display drive circuit board DC. In such a constitution, the DC is placed so as to partly hold the DY and accordingly a flat display is obtained under the DC with a space of several millimeters to several tens of millimeters secured. As a result, an externally thin and narrow design is attained for a flat display device. In addition, the master unit of a video interphone system using the flat display can also have an externally thin and narrow design.
