Abstract: In a storage disk control appratus (600), a load of a computer (500) caused by transferring data (510) is reduced, and a waiting time until a data transfer operation is commenced is shortened. In the disk control method for controlling a disk appratus (600) including a disk having (502) a plurality of storage regions for storing data therein by way of an external appratus (500) external addresses (511) produced from the external appratus (500) are related to internal addresses (512) indicative of positions of the storage regions the external addresses are converted (501) into the internal addresses related thereto, and the disk (502) is accessed based on the internal addresses. In the disk control appratus (600) for controlling a disk appratus (502) including a disk having a plurality of storage regions used to store therein data, there are provided management means (504) for managing a correspondence relationship between external addresses and internal addresses indicative of positions of the storage regions, and conversion means (501) for converting a preselected external address into the internal address related thereto by the management means (500) and for supplying the converted internal address to the disk.

Abstract: In the present invention there is disclosed a method of controlling access to a recording disk, comprising the steps of: determining a skew which minimizes a rotational delay time at an average distance of movement when a head accesses the recording disk, which skew is defined as a gap indicating an angular difference between a start and an end of the same data block; determining a position of a data block on the recording disk based on at least the determined skew; scheduling an order of a plurality of input disk access requests to minimize an amount of movement of the head when the head accesses the recording disk; and accessing the recording disk by the head based on the result of the scheduling. Apparatus for carrying out the above-described method comprises a disk (5) SCSI device driver (6) that is connected to a physical address table (7) the output of which is connected with a block allocator (1) for storing the data arrangement onto the disk (5) based on a given format parameter (10). The block allocator (1) is connected via a block map (3) with one input of a scheduler (2) the output of which is connected with the SCSI device driver (6). Said scheduler (2) second input is connected with the output of an access request buffer (4) for storing the access requests (40) and said scheduler (2) third input is the input of a schedule parameter (20). The SCSI device driver (6) is further connected with a data buffer (8) intended for storing image data (80).

Abstract: A parallel arithmetic-logical processing device in which arithmetic-logical processing is shared among and executed in a parallel fashion by a plurality of processing elements. The device includes a large-capacity serial access memory 2 for continuous reading/writing of large-scale data, a small-capacity serial access memory 3 for continuous reading/writing of small-scale data and a high-speed general-purpose random access memory 4 for random writing/readout of small-scale data. A central processing unit (CPU) 5 causes the memories to be used or not used depending on the scale of the arithmetic-logical processing. Since the serial access memory 3 or 4 executes continuous data writing and reading, high-speed access may be achieved, so that it can be manufactured inexpensively with a large storage capacity. Consequently, the processing speed in the CPU 5 may be increased, while the parallel arithmetic-logical processing device may be manufactured inexpensively.
