Provided is a transmitting apparatus including a stream input unit that inputs a transport stream containing PID data packets of a plurality of service channels in a time-division manner, an information addition unit that adds a time stamp corresponding to a time of the input to PID packets remaining after the PID data packets of the service channels that are not selected of the input transport stream are removed, and a stream transmitting unit that successively transmits each of the PID packets to which the time stamp is added to an external device.

It is possible to easily and quickly deal with a failure of a specific device in a system where devices are connected using a bus having a digital interface. An electronic device comprises means (12, 23) adaptive to a predetermined digital interface where a predetermined identification code, a code for detecting an object to be processed, a code for specifying the class of processing, and information for conducting a processing and used for recognizing the identification code, means (14, 22) for detecting the object when the identification code is recognized, processing means (16 to 19, 24, 25) for executing the information for carrying out the processing according to the processing class if the object includes the electronic device, whereby the device that has failed can be specifically detected and repaired easily.

In a system having many apparatus connected with AV link (5,6), e.g. using SCART connectors (1-4), automation of configuration can be realized. A transmission side apparatus varies a signal which is sent to pin-8 with interpolation of a certain time period from a signal which is sent to pin-10. The signal of pin-8 is different from the signal of pin-10 in that the signal is insulated between connectors in an apparatus and operates independently for each connection. Therefore the receiving side apparatus can identify the physical position of the transmission side apparatus with reference to pin-8 signal and can discriminate the type of the transmission side apparatus with reference to pin-10 signal.

Provided is a transmission device including a stream input unit configured to input a plurality of streams each constituted of continuous packets, a stream synthesizing unit configured to synthesize the plurality of input streams to obtain one stream, and a stream transmission unit configured to transmit the one obtained stream. The stream synthesizing unit encodes at least a typical pattern portion of each packet of the plurality of streams using keys that are intrinsic to the respective streams for separation of packets of each stream on a reception side, and thereafter performs time-division multiplexing on the packets of the plurality of streams to obtain the one stream.

To suitably perform a delivery service of content to which information of ages, viewing by which is restricted, is added. In a DMS, information of whether age restriction for viewing has been imposed on the content is provided using meta-information. In response, a DMC acquires the meta-information of content, reproduction of which is intended to request to a DMR, and confirms whether the content has the age restriction for viewing. In addition, the DMC acquires information related to the device type from the DMR to which the reproduction of content is requested, and confirm whether the device is capable of controlling reproduction of the content according to the age restriction for viewing.

Transmission of a transport stream to an external device is effectively performed in the present invention. A transport stream including in a time multiplexed manner PID data packets for a plurality of service channels is inputted. A time stamp corresponding to the inputted time is applied to PID packets remaining after the PID data packets are removed from the service channels selected (tuned) for the transport stream. The PID packets to which the time stamp is applied are sequentially transmitted to an external device. The transmission bit rate can be kept low. The PID packets returned from the external device are returned to their original time positions in accordance with the time stamp allowing simple reconfiguration of the transport stream.

A control section of an IRD sends an identification start request to a digital bus via a digital input/output terminal. The control section generates an identification display message by controlling an identification display message generation section, makes a superimposition section superimpose the identification display message on an analog video signal, and outputs a resulting signal via an analog output terminal. An information input apparatus allows a user to identify an input terminal connected to the output terminal of the IRD among a plurality of input terminals of the self apparatus by reproducing the identification display message and presenting it to the user.

Embodiments of the invention provide a method for making mutual authentication between short-distance radio devices automatically or after confirmation by users, and a short-distance radio device for realizing the method. In a condition where a plurality of radio devices exist, each of the radio devices comprising a data communicating unit for performing short-distance radio communication and an authenticating unit for performing authentication of the radio device, the authenticating unit performs mutual authentication between two radio devices automatically or after confirmation by users of the radio devices when the two radio devices come closer to each other to such an extent that coverage areas of radio waves generated by the radio devices overlap with each other.
