A data transmission system, a data transmission method, and an electronic apparatus. A controller of a reproduction system grasps an SEIDD for a stream to be received in Step (S1) specifies the SEID by means of an enquiry command in Step (S2) to enquire a corresponding Bluetooth output plug number, and designates the grasped Bluetooth output plug number in Step (S3) to enquire the connection destination in the target of this Bluetooth output plug. The controller of the reproduction system inquires the operating condition of a subunit to be a signal source in Step (S4) and displays the information representing the signal source of the stream on a display section in Step (S5).
Abstract:
When a tuner (2) receives EPG service information and EPG program information transmitted together with broadcasting data, a making unit (12) in the tuner (2) makes an EPG service list about receivable channels from the EPG service information by using a descriptor conforming to a general-purpose format, such as the AV/C protocol. A changing unit (13) in the tuner (2) converts the EPG program information into an EPG event list by using a descriptor conforming to a general-purpose format, such as the AV/C protocol. Therefore, the EPG service list and EPG event list can be read from any device under the control according to the protocols of the general-purpose formats used, and the EPG data can be easily handled by any other device other than the tuner.

When transmitting data to be protected such as audio data by Bluetooth connection, authentication difficulty is switched according to the processing ability of the device to be a communication mate. Accordingly, even a device having a low processing ability can perform Bluetooth communication based on SDMI. Moreover, when the communication mate is a device having a high processing ability such as a personal computer, it is possible to provide sufficient countermeasure for hacking.

It is possible to easily and quickly deal with a failure of a specific device in a system where devices are connected using a bus having a digital interface. An electronic device comprises means (12, 23) adaptive to a predetermined digital interface where a predetermined identification code, a code for detecting an object to be processed, a code for specifying the class of processing, and information for conducting a processing and used for recognizing the identification code, means (14, 22) for detecting the object when the identification code is recognized, processing means (16 to 19, 24, 25) for executing the information for carrying out the processing according to the processing class if the object includes the electronic device, whereby the device that has failed can be specifically detected and repaired easily.

In a digital tuner (1) a tuner subunit (11) selects a data stream of one or more programs from a data stream in which digital signals of a plurality of programs are multiplexed, and a 1394 interface (13) transmits the selected data stream to a 1394 serial bus (3). A logical output plug is set in the tuner subunit, and the data stream of the one or more programs is output to the 1394 interface from the output plug.

An equipment unit having an interactive user interface is controlled by means of a simple apparatus. Data reproduced by a DVD player (400) is decoded. The decoded data is converted into a signal format such as DVC SD or MPEG2-TS along with information about such as a menu. The converted information is transmitted to a simple display device (500) through the 1394 digital interface. When a predetermined item in the menu displayed on the screen of the simple display device (500) is selected by operating a remote commander (300), a corresponding panel command such as "CURSOR UP" or "EXEC" is transmitted to the DVD player (400). The selected item is recognized by the DVD player (400) and necessary processing is executed.

A register decided by an address is taken to be a virtual plug for each item of equipment. A plug enable for an input plug is set to 1 and a synchronous communication packet for the AV signal from the channel set by the channel number is received. A plug enable for an output plug is set to one and the synchronous communication packet for the information signal is sent to the channel set by the channel number at a transmission speed designated by the DR (Data Rate) at the bandwidth expressed by "Bandwidth".

A digital interface microcomputer (DIFcon 7) sends/receives an Audio Video/Control-Command Transaction Set (AV/C-CTS) between it and other equipment connected by way of an IEEE-1394 serial bus (not illustrated). DIFcon (7) also provides both way conversion between AV/C-CTS and Local Application Control Bus System (LANC) signals. A mode control microcomputer (Modecon, 8) sends/receives LANC signals between it and the digital interface microcomputer (DIFcon, 7). A mechanism control microcomputer (Mechacon 9) controls a mechanism (e.g. a Video Tape Recorder) in accordance with commands sent from the mode control microcomputer 8. Further, mechacon (9) informs the mode control microcomputer 8 of the status of the mechanism. To enable the use by other companies of every application developed originally by using IEEE-1394, vendor unique, commands the DIFcon (7) when accepting a target key code calculates an application key code based on a cipher function and a target key code therefor. Then, it sends an opening command for the application attached to the application key code. The target, when accepting the opening command, decodes the target key code in the command. Then if the decoded target key code matches a target key code generated by the DIFcon 7, it allows execution of the command.
