Abstract:
Data transfer can be efficiently performed between an external bus and an internal bus in an asynchronous transfer system. A packet acquired from the external bus through asynchronous communication is stored in a first memory means and DMA-transferred to a second memory means via the internal bus. The data acquired by decomposing the packet stored in the second memory means is transferred to an internal signal processing system. Meanwhile, the data from the internal signal processing system is assembled into a packet, transferred to the second memory means, and DMA-transferred to a third memory means. First part information indicating whether or not the first unit data DMA-transferred is the first part of the packet and last part information indicating whether or not the last unit data is the last part of the packet are set in a control register for DMA-transfer. DMA-transfer is performed according to the setting of the control register to allow the transfer destination to reflect the first part information and the last part information.
Abstract:
Copying, dubbing or reproducing copyrighted digital data can be inhibited or restricted to properly protect a copyright. AV data recorded on a pre-recorded tape is output from a reproducing unit of a first digital VCR with protective information indicating whether the copy of the AV data is inhibited or not. The protective information is input with the A/V data to a second digital VCR. Copy permission information of a blank tape loaded in the second digital VCR is discriminated and the second digital VCR records the AV data supplied from the first digital VCR based on the protective information and the copy permission information.

COPYING, DUBBING OR REPRODUCING COPYRIGHTED DIGITAL DATA CAN BE INHIBITED OR RESTRICTED TO PROPERLY PROTECT A COPYRIGHT.AV DATA RECORDED ON A PRE-RECORDED TAPE (101) IS OUTPUT FROM A REPRODUCING UNIT (3) OF A FIRST DIGITAL VCR (102) WITH PROTECTIVE INFORMATION INDICATING WHETHER THE COPY OF THE AV DATA IS INHIBITED OR NOT. THE PROTECTIVE INFORMATION IS INPUT WITH THE A/V DATA TO A SECOND DIGITAL VCR (104).COPY PERMISSION INFORMATION OF A BLANK TAPE LOADED IN THE SECOND DIGITAL VCR (104) IS DISCRIMINATED AND THE SECOND DIGITAL VCR (104) RECORDS THE AV DATA SUPPLIED FROM THE FIRST DIGITAL VCR (102) BASED ON THE PROTECTIVE INFORMATION AND THE COPY PERMISSION INFORMATION. Abstract:
A method and apparatus for controlling an audio video (AV) system having a number of AV devices (1-7), each AV device having a controller coupled through a control bus to the respective controller of at least another one of the AV devices (1-7). The power for the AV devices is turned off when a detection device indicates that a predetermined time has elapsed.

Abstract:
A video apparatus is disclosed. The video apparatus has signal control means for outputting an image signal in a plurality of formats, interface means for connecting the video apparatus to a computer, and interface control means for controlling so as to transmit the image signal to the computer by using the interface means. In the case where the video apparatus has been connected to the computer through the interface means, when the format of the image signal is switched, the interface control means controls the interface means in such a manner that the connection to the computer is disconnected without changing a physical connecting state. After the elapse of a predetermined period, the video apparatus is connected to the computer again without changing the physical connecting state.
