    Abstract: An optical pickup device, an optical disc device, and a prism are provided to reduce the thickness of the entire optical path by narrowing a light flux vertical width of an optical beam to be narrower than the last light flux diameter although a light source in which an emission angle of the optical beam is broad in an upper and lower direction is used. An LD(Laser Diode)(21) emits an optical beam whose emission angle is broad in an upper and lower direction vertical to an information recording surface of an optical disc and is narrow in a horizontal direction. A collimator lens(22) converts the optical beam emitted from the LD(21) into a collimating beam. An objective lens(29) condenses the optical beam on the optical disc. An extending part extends a light flux horizontal width, which is a width of a direction horizontal to the information recording surface of the optical disc of the optical beam converted into the collimating beam by the collimator lens(22), to the last light flux diameter which is a diameter of the optical beam when the optical beam is inputted to the objective lens(29). A prism extends a light flux vertical width, which is a width of a direction vertical to the information recording surface of the optical disc of the extended optical beam, to the last light flux diameter, and simultaneously emits the optical beam to the objective lens(29). The collimator lens(22) converts the optical beam into the collimating beam so that the light flux vertical width and the light flux horizontal width in the optical beam are narrower than the last light flux diameter.
