Abstract: A signal recording medium capable of being strongly secured to a rotation part such as a disc table even on high-speed rotation. A floppy disc includes a hub at its center portion and a disc substrate having in its disc-shaped main portion a circular opening operating as a mounting portion for the hub and also having a signal recording surface on the disc-shaped main portion. The hub includes an abutment surface abutted against the disc table rotated in unison with the floppy disc and a facing suction surface spaced apart from a suction magnet mounted on a rim portion of the disc table when the abutment surfaces is abutted against a hub setting surface of the disc table.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reliability of recording and reproducing operations by controlling the flow of air in a device main body. SOLUTION: A cartridge holder 231 is provided in a device main body 101 to move between the insertion ejection position, through which first and second disk cartridges are inserted and ejected through a cartridge insertion ejection port 110 of a front panel 109, and the mounting position at which a recording and a reproducing of information signals to the first and the second disks by a head section 121 are made possible. The cartridge holder 231 has a notch section 236 for recording and reproducing so that the section 121 is made opposing to the mounted first and second disks. Then, a first flow controlling member 331 is provided in the main body 101 to control the air flow in the inner and the outer sides of the section 236 of the holder 231 in the space between the holder 231 and a top plate section 108 regardless of the position of the holder 231, i.e., at the insertion and ejection position or the mounting position.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the proper chucking even when the frictional torque from a lifter, etc., is decreased at the time of chucking operation, by increasing the rotational friction force in the manner of adding the friction force to a floppy disk. SOLUTION: When a disk cartridge 100 is loaded and positioned, a capacity discriminating hole of the disk cartridge 100 is detected by a detection means 5, therefore, e.g. the high density recording floppy disk having no lifter for abutting liners 105 on the signal recording surface in the cartridge is discriminated. At the time of chucking operation, a pressurizing means 2 is controlled by a control circuit 4, and the outside surface 104a of the cartridge 104 is pressurized by a driver 2a to increase the contact pressure of the liners 105 against the signal recording surface of the floppy disk 101. In this state, a disk table 41 is rotated to generate the rotational friction force required for the chucking operation. At the time of the recording/reproducing operation, the pressurization effected by the pressurizing means 2 is released.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate fine adjustment of a load pressure and to make the device strong against shock or vibration by movably pressing the head arm to a magnetic disk side through energization to a piezoelectric member and to a diamagnetic disk side through the cut-off of such energization. SOLUTION: With a piezoelectric rubber 8 energized and with a spindle motor rotatably driven at a prescribed low speed, the length of the piezoelectric rubber 8 is reduced in resistance against elasticity, imparting a rotary pressing force to a pair of upper and lower head supporting leaf springs 2, 3 in the direction of the arrow a1. Then, a load pressure F1, which is the contact load of the pair of upper and lower magnetic heads 6, 7 against the upper and lower faces of a small capacity floppy disk FD, is automatically adjusted to a prescribed high load pressure, the optimum value. As a result, centering for example can be surely carried out for a small capacity floppy disk FD against the center of the spindle for the purpose of recording/reproducing in a small capacity of data such as 1-2MB or the like.

The ball 13 is movable along a U groove 12 formed to a head arm upper face 4a and becomes stable at a position of either a positioning recess 14 or a positioning recess 15 by a toggle mechanism. Accordingly, a depressing point of the load pressure variable leaf spring 8 to the head arm 4 is controlled to move.
