    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent dust or the like in air from being stuck to an objective lens by providing a lens protector with a stop part which is projected toward an optical disk and has an aperture part whose area is narrower than the effective area of the objective lens. CONSTITUTION:A laser beam LB emitted from an objective lens 24 toward an optical disk 33 is gradually narrowed and is converged; and since a stop part 39b of a lens protector 39 is projected toward the optical disk, light emitted from the objective lens 24 and light made incident on the objective lens 24 are not intercepted though the area of an aperture part 40 of the stop part 39b is made smaller than the effective area of the objective lens 24 in accordance with the extent of this projection. The area of the aperture part 40 of the lens protector 39 is smaller than the effective area of the objective lens 24, and the projecting stop part 39b of the lens protector 39 cylindrically covers input/output light of the objective lens 24. Thus, dust or the like in air is hardly stuck to the objective lens.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure inter-layer cross talk of a multi-layer disk. SOLUTION: A single carrier signal is recorded on a recording layer to be measured, and a multi-burst signal is recorded on another recording layer. The recording position of the multi-burst signal is made the same position as the radial position of the disk on which the single carrier signal is recorded. When the data on the recording layer to be measured are read out by a pickup to be analyzed, the regenerated signal becomes so that the spectrum of the single carrier is distinguished clearly from the spectrum of the multi-burst recorded on another layer being a cross talk component, and the inter-layer cross talk is measured.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To cut down the optical path length of laser beams for miniaturizing an optical pick up and an optical disc regenerator by a method wherein any emitted laser beams are molded in almost circular shape to be made into spectrums in a specific number. CONSTITUTION:The laser beams emitting from a laser emittter 1 are made into almost regular sectional circular shape through the intermediary of a molding spectroscope port 2b of a spectroscope 2 into three colors. At this time, it is necessary to provide a diffraction grating in the optical path of the laser beams but it is needless due to the integrally formed laser emitter 1 and the molded spectroscope 2, thereby dispensing with the diffracting grating in the laser beam optical path and cutting down the optical path length. According, the optical pick up device and the optical disc regenerator can be miniaturized.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the weight of an optical system and to smoothly and surely invert a pickup and then to quickly and surely detect this inverting position. CONSTITUTION:A pickup inverting mechanism is composed of plural pulleys 30-34 supported freely turnably on the left surface side of a chassis 10 having a U-shaped side surface, an annular timing belt 40 stretched between these pulleys to be in a U-shape on its side surface, a carriage 50 restrained with one part of the belt 40 and mounting the pickup 51 and a driving motor 60 provided underneath the forward side of the left side surface of the chassis 10 for the purpose of rotating the belt 40, etc. By the belt 40, the pickup 51 is smoothly and surely inverted via the carriage 50 with the inversion pulley 34, etc. This pickup inverting mechanism is equipped with an inverting position detecting mechanism 90 consisting of a small diameter gear 91 to be rotated integrally with the inversion pulley 34, a position detecting gear 92 to be meshed with the small diameter gear 91 when a pattern to be detected is formed and a sensor 95 for reading out the pattern to be detected.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To simplify a controlling mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A guide rail 36 for guiding a carriage 39 on which an optical pickup device 42 and a disk surface tilt detecting sensor 43 are mounted is constituted of a guide which sways around a swaying center O on a light reflecting surface 13a in the vicinity of the center of the disk and within a plane perpendicular to the disk surface in accordance with the detecting output by the disk surface tilt detecting sensor 43. Therefore, as the guide rail 36 sways in conformity with the tilt of the disk surface, the focal point of an objective lens 42a of the optical pickup device 42 can be changed in the heightwise direction. Accordingly, since the focal point of the objective lens 42a can be agreed with an optional point of the reflecting surface 13a, the optical distance between the objective lens 42a and the disk 13 when the tilt of the disk 13 is detected is constant and the relative position of the optical axis of the objective lens 42a to the track on the disk 13 is invariable.

A focus control driver 55 drives, based on the FE signal, the lens holder 70 via a focusing coil 72.

The inner diameter of the opening part of the stopper member is set roughly larger than ranges for the movements of projections 42 and 43 projectingly contacted with the outer peripheral wall of a biaxial actuator 30 during tracking control. A stopper 44 is moved up and down based on the control of a stopper control part and, if, for example, a projection 43 exists in the gap of the stopper member, the rotational range of a lens holder 33 can be regulated.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the number of pieces of I-V amplifiers from increasing even when the number of optical pickups is increased by supplying added signals to the I-V amplifier after current signals are added and obtaining a signal required for operation of an optical disk device. SOLUTION: By supplying the added signals to the I-V amplifier after the current signals are added without providing eight pieces of I-V amplifier parts for each of eight pieces of light receiving parts, the signal required for the operation of the optical disk device reproducing both of a CD and a DVD is obtained. The I-V amplifier parts 50 convert the sum of the current signals generated according to light quantities made incident on the light receiving parts a, b, c, d respectively supplied from terminals 81, 75, 57, 63 to a voltage signal a+b+c+d to take out the converted signals to the terminal 50T. Similarly, the I-V amplifier part 82 converts the sum of the current signals generated according to the light quantities made incident on the light receiving parts A and a, B and b, C and c, D and d respectively supplied from the terminals 80, 74, 56, 62 to the voltage signal (A+a)+(B+b)+(C+c)+(D+d) to take out the converted signals to the terminal 82T.
