Abstract:
A recording medium which is replaceable with a conventional CD player and from which a host reproducing device can reproduce high-quality sounds. The recording medium is provided with a first recording area (3) in which digital audio signals which are sampled at a prescribed sampling frequency and quantized with a prescribed number of bits are recorded, a first management area (2) in which the information required to manage the digital audio signals recorded in the area (3) is recorded, a second recording area (6) in which the digital audio signals corresponding to the digital audio signals recorded in the first recording area (3) are recorded, and a second management area (5) in which the information required to manage the digital audio signals recorded in the area (6) is recorded. Identification data representing the presence of the plurality of recording areas are recorded in the first management area (2).
Abstract:
The invention is characterized in that when data is processed by moving/copying the contents from a server having a large-capacity memory to a memory card, and vice versa, the information about the history of data moving/copying is stored in a nonvolatile memory, and the data moving/copying from the server to the memory card is inhibited or allowed according to the history information. The invention is further characterized in that when encrypted contents are sent to a server device having a large-capacity memory from a terminal, the key for decryption is re-encrypted and sent, and the re-encrypted key is further encrypted differently by the server device, thus performing two-stage encryption and thereby enhancing the security of copyright protection.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a recording device, a recording method, a reproducing device and a reproducing method. A compressed digital signal is divided into blocks, and fixed-value data is inserted for every predetermined number of blocks to form an encrypted signal. On reception, the expansion of the encrypted signal is permitted depending on whether the inserted fixed-value data have been successfully decoded.
Abstract:
A speaker apparatus includes: a diaphragm vibrating to output sounds and being formed in an annular shape having a center hole in the middle thereof; a driving section causing the diaphragm to vibrate; a light emitting member emitting light; and a heat controlling member radiating heat generated when the light emitting member emits light or conducting the heat to a heat radiating section, wherein at least a part of the heat controlling member is provided on an axis including the center axis of the diaphragm, and the light emitting member is disposed on an end face of the heat controlling member.
Abstract:
An audio reproducing apparatus includes the an output circuit operable to generate audio signals to be supplied to first 11SW1 and second speakers 11SW2 placed near the ears of a listener 4; and a detector operable to detect the presence of sound output from other speakers 11FL placed at positions further away from the listener than the first and second speakers. When it is determined that there is no sound output from the other speakers 11FL on the basis of a detection result obtained by the detector, the output circuit performs a control operation so that audio signals to be supplied to the other speakers are supplied to the first and second speakers. This reduces noise disturbance to others while still providing the same listening experience to the user. For example, to prevent disturbance to neighbours when viewing television programmes late at night.
Abstract:
An editing apparatus for editing a digest portion of a program recorded on a non-volatile memory comprises an input means for allowing the user to input a start position and an end position of the digest portion, a generating means for generating a start address and digest period information of the digest portion corresponding to the start address and the end position, and a recording means for recording the start address and the digest period information of the digest portion to the non-volatile memory.
Abstract:
A SECURITY UNIT (52) TO PREVENT UNAUTHORIZED RETRIEVAL OF DATA INCLUDES AN ENCRYPTING UNIT (54) FOR ENCRYPTING DATA IN ACCORDANCE WITH COMMANDS RECEIVED BY THE SECURITY UNIT (52), AND A COMMON REGISTER (53) FOR STORING BOTH INTERMEDIATE RESULTS AND FINAL RESULTS OF THE DATA ENCRYPTION. A SWITCHING ELEMENT (60) OPERATIVELY COUPLED TO THE REGISTER (53) SELECTIVELY OUTPUTS THE CONTENTS OF THE REGISTER. THE SWITCHING ELEMENT (60) IS CONTROLLED TO PREVENT EXTERNAL ACCESS TO THE INTERMEDIATE RESULTS OF THE ENCRYPTION. THE SECURITY UNIT (52) IS PARTICULARLY USEFUL AS PART OF A MEMORY UNIT (40) THAT IS ATTACHABLE TO A RECORDING/REPRODUCTION DEVICE SUCH AS A DIGITAL AUDIO RECORDER/PLAYER.(19)
