    Abstract: A method of colour saturation compensation in a video signal is disclosed. The method includes the steps of: processing a luminance signal component of the video signal; determining whether the processing of the luminance signal results in a change in chrominance saturation; if the step of determining reveals that the chrominance saturation has changed, applying a chrominance compensation signal to the chrominance signals to counteract the effects of chrominance saturation, wherein said step of applying a compensation signal include the steps of: generating a compensation signal which is dependent on hue and luminance ratio (output luminance signal / input luminance signal). Apparatus for performing the method is also disclosed.

    Abstract: A system and method for video noise reduction using motion and edge adaptive temporal-spatial filtering is disclosed in the present invention. The system includes a motion and edge adaptive temporal-spatial filter and an impulse noise filter which can reduce both Gaussian and impulse noise within the video signals. A spatial filter is used to define the pixel value for the motion pixels. A temporal noise filter is used to define the current pixel value for the still pixels. A motion detector and a tail-detector is used to distinguish between moving and non-moving image areas, In regions where the status of a pixel changes from static to motion, the spatial and temporal filter results are mixed for the system video output. However, if impulse noise is detected, an impulse noise filtered video output is used for the system video output.
