The invention concerns a device for processing a digital image comprising at least one contour region, including sharpness processing of the contour region. The sharpness processing includes converting data of the level of pixels of the contour zone into initial main data (step 2), ranging between a minimum value, for example 0 and a main value based on the amplitude of the contour, a sharpness sub-processing performed on said initial main data so as to obtain final main data (steps 3 to 10), and converting the final main data into final data of levels (step 11).

A video image processing system is described that generates the interpolated video images with sharp and jaggedness-free edges. A method of video image processing is also described that interpolates video images to generate the video images with sharp and jaggedness-free edges.

L'invention porte sur un dispositif de traitement d'une image numérique initiale comportant au moins une zone de contour, ledit dispositif comprenant des moyens d'agrandissement (MAGR) aptes à agrandir l'image initiale en une image numérique agrandie. Les moyens d'agrandissement comportent des moyens de détection aptes à détecter les zones de contours de l'image numérique initiale, des moyens de détermination (MD) aptes à déterminer la taille, en nombre de pixels, de chaque zone de contour, et des moyens d'agrandissement aptes à agrandir chaque zone de contour à l'aide d'un outil logiciel, choisi en fonction de la taille de chaque zone de contour, parmi un ensemble d'outils logiciels d'agrandissement.
Abstract:
A method of colour saturation compensation in a video signal is disclosed. The method includes the steps of: processing a luminance signal component of the video signal; determining whether the processing of the luminance signal results in a change in chrominance saturation; if the step of determining reveals that the chrominance saturation has changed, applying a chrominance compensation signal to the chrominance signals to counteract the effects of chrominance saturation, wherein said step of applying a compensation signal include the steps of: generating a compensation signal which is dependent on hue and luminance ratio (output luminance signal / input luminance signal). Apparatus for performing the method is also disclosed.
