Abstract: The process comprising polymerizing in an aq. suspension in the substantial absence of molecular oxygen at a temp. in the range of from 0o to 100oC and in the presence of a free radical initiator and an alcohol containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms 100 parts by wt. of at least one nitrile(I; R = H, lower alkyl, halogen), and (B) up to 50 % by wt. based on the combined wt. of (A) and (B) of at least one member selected from the group consisting of vinyl aromatic monomer, II(R1 = H, alkyl, halogen; R2 = C1-6 alkyl), alpha-olefin and vinyl ether in the presence of 1-4 parts of a rubbery polymer of a conjugated diene monomer.
