Abstract: The process for the ammoxidation of a C3 to C5 paraffinic hydrocarbon to its corresponding alpha , beta -unsaturated hydrocarbon comprising reacting the C3 to C5 paraffinic hydrocarbon with ammonia and oxygen in a fluid bed reactor at a temperature of between 250 DEG C to 600 DEG C in the presence of a catalyst having the empirical formula as follows: VvSbmAaDdOx wherein A when present is Sn and/or Ti D when present is one or more of Li, Mg, Na, Ca, Sr, Ba, Co, Fe, Cr, Ga, Ni, Zn, Ge, Nb, Zr, Mo, W, Cu, Te, Ta, Se, Bi, Ce, In, As, B, Al, P and Mn; and wherein v is 1, m is 0.5-75, a is 0 to 25, d is 0 to 25, and x is determined by the oxidation state of the cations present, and a minor quantity of an halogen-containing component, preferably characterized by the following formula: R-X or X2 where R=Hydrogen, C1-C20 alkyl and X=F, Cl, Br, I or mixtures thereof.arbo

Abstract: The method for the ammoxidation of C3 to C5 paraffin hydrocarbon to its respective-unsaturated nitrile includes the reaction between C3 to C5 paraffin hydrocarbon and ammonia and oxygen in a reactor with fluidized bed at temperatures from 250 to 600 deg.C in the presence of catalyst having the following empiric formula VvSlmAaDdOx where A whenever present means tin and/or titanium; D when present means one or more of the following elements: lithium, magnesium, sodium, calcium, strontium, barium, cobalt, iron, chromium, gallium, nickel, zinc, germanium, niobium, zirconium, molybdenum, tungsten, copper, tellurium, tantalum, selenium, bismuth, cerium, indium, arsenic, boron, aluminium, phosphorus and manganese, and V means 1, m has the value of 0.5-75, a - from 0 to 25, d - from 0 to 25, x is determined by the degree of oxidation of the cations present. The method can also be effected in the presence of insignificant amount of a compound containing halogen, preferably included in the following formula: R - X or X2 where R means hydrogen, C1-C20 alkyl and X means fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine or their mixtures. 12 claims
