Abstract: By the method raw acentonitrile containing acrylonitrile asan impurity, and water is supplied in the upper part of thedistillation column. The raw acetonitrile is distilled in thepresence of water for a period of time where the entireacrylonitrile admixture is evaporated in the presence of thewater, the entire acrylonitrile is removed in an upper streamcoming out of the distillation column, and the raw acetonitrile isrecovered free from any acrylonitrile admixture from the lowerpart of the column.
