Abstract: An impact-resistant copolymer(I) having low gas permeability and high softening temp. is manufd. by grafting a nitrile rubber latex was grafted with acrylonitrile 70, indene 10, and isobutene 20g to give I having 264 psi heat distortion temp. 79≦̸C and notched Izod impact strength 7.3 ft-1b/in. notch which gave a film having 90% relative humidity water vapor transmission rate 3.5g-mil/100 in. 2/24hr/atm and O transmission rate 2.0 cm3-mil/100 in.2/24 hr/atm.
