Abstract: A catalyst for the prepn. of acrylic acid from acrolein and the prepn. of methacrylic acid from methacrolein consists of U and (or) Th, W, V, and Mo oxides, and a small amt. of other metals. Thus, U2W1.2V3Mo12Ox was prepd. from an aq. suspension contg. MoO3,V2O5, and W powder which was refluxed 1hr and then treated with aq. UO2(OAc)2.2H2O.
