Abstract: A process is disclosed for the formation of amorphous multimetallic alloy coatings. More specifically, a chemical vapor deposition process is described wherein precursor compounds are induced to decompose upon a substrate under controlled parameters so as to form a coating on the substrate that is a substantially amorphous multi-metallic alloy. Preferred amorphous alloy compositions are also taught that are ideally synthesized by the claimed process.

Abstract: The subject invention relates to a coated reinforcement material comprising a Si-containing reinforcement having a coating of the general formula: AlxOyNz wherein x is up to about 60 atomic% of the coating; y is from about 20 atomic% to about 55 atomic% of the coating; and z is from about 5 atomic% to about 45 atomic% of the coating, with the proviso that x+y+z-100. The invention further relates to a high strength, high temperature performance composite comprising a Si-containing reinforcement material having a coating comprising aluminum, oxygen and nitrogen, said coated reinforcement material in combination with a matrix material. Abstract: Amorphous metal alloy compositions are synthesized by solid state incorporation/reduction reactions wherein a high-surface area support is brought in contact with a precursor metal-bearing compound in such a manner that the compound is incorporated into the support or caused to deposit metal onto the surface of the support. The composition obtained is an amorphous alloy composition or can be made so by heat treating at a temperature below the crystallization temperature of the amorphous metal alloy desired to be formed.

Abstract: Novel rhodium based amorphous metal alloys having the formula RhrAa where: A is B, P, As and mixtures thereof; r is from about 50 to 96 percent; and a is from about 4 to 50 percent. Novel rhodium based amorphous metal alloys are also based on the formula RhrBbDd where: D is Ir, Pd, Ru, Ti, Zr, Nb, Ta, Y, Hf and mixtures thereof; r is from about 50 to 96 percent; b is from about 4 to 50 percent; and d is from about 0 to 60 percent; and r + b + d = 100. Novel process for the generation of halogens from halide-containing solutions can be performed by employing the rhodium based metal alloys of the present invention.
