Abstract: PURPOSE: To heighten the come off preventing effect after assembling by providing a molding attached to an automobile having a flange, which is formed in such a manner that a part of one leg portion of a metallic support member having a substantially U-shaped cross section is provided with a spiral portion positioned opposite to the other leg portion side. CONSTITUTION: A molding 10 as a belt weatherstrip fitted along an upper flange of an outer panel of a door for an automobile includes a support member 18 having a discontinuous spiral constraining means part 20. The support member 18 includes a long leg portion 22 and a short leg portion 24 connected by a web portion 26 to have a substantially U-shaped cross section. The leg portion 24 has an inwardly bent and folded free end 28, and according to the outline angle corresponding to a die, plural spiral portions 20 are formed in the leg portion 22 by punching. The support member 18 is covered with a covering 32 formed by an elastomer material, and a window sealing blade piece 34 is projected on the covering 32.
