Abstract:
An apparatus for use in a motor vehicle having a roof system, the motor vehicle further having a body with a passenger compartment and a trunk space, the apparatus comprising a roof system comprising any one of a rigid panel hardtop, a retractable hardtop moveable from an extended position disposed above the passenger compartment to a retracted position, or a soft convertible top movable from an extended position disposed above the passenger compartment to a retracted position, wherein any one of the rigid panel hardtop, retractable hardtop or convertible soft top includes an attachment bracket. A transverse support beam having a first end and a second end is included, the support beam carrying any one of the rigid panel top, the retractable hardtop or the soft convertible top, wherein the first end and said second end include universal adapter brackets. The universal adapter brackets are connected to the attachment brackets and to the vehicle body.
Abstract:
A plow (152) is inserted between first major and minor flaps (14, 17) as a case (12) is slid on parallel slide bars (110, 112). Thereafter, the case (12) is unfolded by moving a securement device (120) in a linear direction perpendicular to the fold lines between the major and minor flaps (14, 17), with the case (12) located between parallel locators (130, 132). Pushers (154, 156) push the major flaps (14) and the second minor flap (16) outwardly. The major flaps (14) slide in channels (26) in a queuing guide (22) and an aligned transport guide (48). The transport guide (48) is moved forward to receive a funnel (80) and rearward to a hand-off, horizontal position. The minor flaps (16, 17) are controlled by sliding on an end slide (32) and by being sandwiched by a deflector (68) and between pivotal clamping plates (62).
Abstract:
A spirit level of 'I' beam cross section having a sealed fluid/bubble container mounted thereon, the construction of the container and markings provided on the spirit level enable it to be used selectively to give one or two-dimensional indications of spirit level inclination relative to the horizontal or vertical. The container 13 is disc shaped and edge markings enable the longitudinal length of the 'I' beam to be set horizontally or vertically, and central markings 27 enable the web 7 of the 'I' beam to be set in a horizontal plane.
Abstract:
A tool for countersinking nails into a workpiece has a base member, which is formed of resilient material, and has a generally flat bottom section resting on the workpiece. A metal guide is mounted in the base member. The guide has a central opening for receiving a nail in its bottom. A rigid cap member on the base above the guide has an aperture through it, and a nail set extends partially upward out of the aperture in the cap and extends into the opening in the guide above the nail for transmitting impact from a hammer on the nail. The bottom of the guide member is recessed from the bottom surface of the base so that the metal will not contact the workpiece. The cap has a greater diameter than the guide so that if the cap is struck when the bottom or the nail set is below the top of the workpiece, an impact on the cap is not transmitted to the guide but will be absorbed in the resilient material of the base. A nail starting section integral with the base member extends laterally outward. It contains starting holes that grip nails initially. A slot extends from each opening to a larger opening, and the tool can be pulled over a nail until the nail is in the larger opening where it can be removed from the nail.
Abstract:
The invention is a reflector with an antenna feed that is supported at the focus of the reflector at the end of a hollow tubular support arm wherein electrical circuit components of a signal apparatus are supported within the tubular arm. The components that are mounted in the tubular support arm include the mixer of a downconverter and an amplifier for amplifying the output of the downconverter. These elements are mounted within the tubular arm of the antenna feed support to avoid the necessity of providing a separate box for them on the exterior of the tubular arm that is customarily mounted on the back side of the parabolic reflector. The invention substantially reduces cost, provides a neater arrangement that is not subject to high winds and other inclement weather.

119,579. Vanrossum, J. A., and Thomas, J. Dec. 10, 1917. Luggage-carriers; seat attachments.-In a carrier for motor &c. cycles, side-bars a, disconnectibly hinged at c, c to foot-rest-carrying extensions b, b , are detachably secured to a frame d which is supported by springs upon telescopic pillars e carried by side-bars f adapted to be engaged at f with the wheel-axle ends. Straps or the like are used to connect side rails s to the cycle frame. The frame d has stirrups o , p , connected to the pillars e, and is centrally supported from cradles n by springs m. At its ends, each cradle is connected to a bridge-piece P, the bridge piece at the front end o being hinged tc the stirrup o and the bridge-piece at the rear end being engaged with a spindle q carried by the pillar e and slidable within slots q in the stirrup p . By means of slots a , a seat may be bolted to the bars a, and by collapsing the telescopic stays i and moving the clips i to the lower ends of the pillars e, the foot-rest g and parts b, b may be made to occupy an inclined position. The seat may be arrange'd to face to the side instead of to the back, and by disconnecting the foot-rest-carrying parts, turning the bracket of the hinge c to one side, and then connecting the members b to this bracket and to a bracket c on the side of the bar a, the stays i being connected to the corresponding side pillars e, the foot-rest can be arranged to one side to suit the position of the seat.

17,672. Thomas, J. Aug. 1. Grates; fire - bridges; baffles.-A bearer for supporting fire - bars, fire-bridges, baffles, &c. within a furnace tube consists of a bar b, Figs. 1 and 2, having longitudinal slots c and webs a at the ends engaging with longitudinally - adjustable blocks, each comprising a top part d, Fig. 4, and bottom part e, which may or may not engage with the slot c, held together by a bolt f. Cheeks h adapted to engage with the furnace tube are pivoted at g to the blocks, and may turn in a vertical plane and, in the case where the lower part e of the block does not engage with the slot c, by slackening the bolt f, the cheeks h may be turned in an horizontal plane according to the amount of clearance between the cheeks and the bar b. A set-screw p aids in adjusting and securing each block.
